lmao, Melo can’t guard a single soul at SF...his best position is at PF at this stage of his career, this isn’t 2010 the Rockets switch more than any team in the NBA defensively, so we’ll see how Melo does when switched against perimeter players...my prediction is that it won’t be pretty it sucks that we lost both Ariza and Luc because I like both of them defending out on the perimeter more than I do Ennis and Tucker, but oh well, it is what it is
Is he your sugar daddy, paying your Bills? Do you relate with his swag? Well the only thing I care about is on court game , and melo will have to earn being a starter with more than 1 good performance every 3 weeks. And 1 good defensive effort every 25 plays. And chucking his team out of games. 40% is abysmal.
Bruh stop trying to imply logic to things. Melos coming here so he’s god now. We’re getting Denver melo on offense and kawhi on defense
I can’t have a serious convo with somebody this blinded by Melo love...your need to cape for him to this degree is strange you’re the same dude who tried to increase Melo’s field goal percentage by 6% talking about if he averaged 1 more made a shot a game he would’ve shot 46% instead of 40% last year...at that point, I was done Melo was a team worst -19 (2nd worst was Brewer with a -7) in game 6 and you’re telling me they lost with him on the pine...that’s a joke OKC also made their huge comeback in game 5 once Melo hit the bench you’re embarrassing yourself now bruh
and yet here you are still replying to me...hmm They were a +4 with him in Game 2 which they lost by 7 so they were a -11 with him on the bench so yeah I can easily grab a stat as well. Anyway the point of that was people would call him efficient and he had a good season if he simply made an additional shot per game. That showed me guys were way too infatuated with his FG% when I actually watched games and consistently spoke about the rhythm shots he lacked and also his own personal shot selection but y'all exclude that. So the 40% mattered but when I say OKC had the 12th best defense with Melo on the floor last year it goes ignored and the narrative that he's a bad defender still persists. He just wasn't the fit the Thunder needed and it didn't suit his skillset, common knowledge there but he was a good soldier. You can ignore me, I could care less honestly but I will always debate untrue claims against him, call it love it doesn't bother me. Melo is not a great defender but he's not a bad one. He plays defense just not at an Elite level but its passable with the right pieces around him and in the right scheme, same for offense. Its also on him but this is a great situation, veteran PG and best friend, Top 5 talent to carry the load where he can just provide a solid 20 and 7 a night on hopefully good splits. But yeah just move on from here if you can't handle my replies.
If you are expecting Melo to come in an be a lock down defender or fill some defensive role that Ariza then that is on you. You have plenty of tape that shows Melo will give spurts of good defense but the majority of time it will be passive at best. What Melo showed in his time in OKC especially with Roberson is that he can be a member of a top 10 defense in the league. You will post all the facts saying how bad he was. At the same time the facts say the Thunder defense was in the top half of the league with Melo in the lineup. Meaning if you leave him on a island to guard someone one on one it will be trouble. But his team defense isn't so bad that you can't hide him in a team concept. What we are getting Melo for is the other end of the floor. Hoping with a 2 UNSELFISH players in CP3 and Harden they can utilize him on the offensive end of the floor and make up for whatever he will lose on the defensive side of the floor. On offense he still creates a lot of gravity the defense still flows to him which will help others on that side of the floor also.
There was no defensive identity when Roberson went down. Melo can move his feet, He is not great defensively, but he won't be left on an island like he was in OKC after Roberson was out. I think Melo is more lazy than incapable. Those games against GSW is all I need to give me hope, when the lights are on Melo will at least try.
Why is ESPN, Fox Media media believe Trevor Ariza is Paul George level. Ariza is 33 years old and couldn't Stop Kevin Durant in Game 6,7. Ariza went 0-9 for 3 point shots, 0-12 FG in Game 7 he was chucking up shots. Luc is injury prone and never was the same after the 2nd shoulder injury, too scared of contact, missing a lot of layups and his shot was broken.
Its an interest thing. Like if he sees LeBron James or Kevin Durant in front of him he locks in but if he sees say Demarre Carroll or something he gives less than 2 s***s about him trying to score on him but thats a mentality I think he can break with CP3 pushing him but reality is you don't go 100% on a player who can't really do much to beat you, so its give and take there.
