    Of course you always go after guys from team USA. But he ain't opting out of that giant contract. Maybe in 2019.

    Not sure at this point...aside that the guy basically turned us down two times, i agree with Reeko, i was never a big fan of Melo, but swapping him for Ryan would still be an upgrade, that's why i wanted him now. The problem is that we're not going to have cap space next summer...unless we dump Anderson (along with something else i think), and that would still require burning at least a 1st and something else...well, that's not worth it to sign Melo at 20x or whatever...for Lebron, George or Cousins sure, for Melo at 34 no thanks.

    I agree he knew HOU wasn't happening. I felt like he could've done more to push the trade through but I guess he didn't want to look like the bad guy.

    He probably could have but he caved. He is a basketball player not a poker player or politician. I am sure he meant no disrespect to HOU this time.

    Lebron may not have the same availability as Melo. I don't think it's a Lebron OR Melo situation

    The only reason Melo was attractive for us this off-season was because there was a chance for us to get him for Anderson plus insignificant filler.

    He would have been a significant upgrade over Anderson.

    But He was not worth including Capela, Gordon or Ariza for. He would not be worth giving a big contract to. He would not be worth us putting our time or efforts in trying to recruit him here.

    I'm sure we will make a move, most likely minor, at the deadline. Then during free agency we would have had a year to see whatever weaknesses we have to try to fix. Almost certainly signing Melo as a free agent won't be the answer.
