You are a lot more optimistic than me if you think the Rockets will be getting late 1st in 5 years. In fact, one can argue we may not be drafting in the 20s in 3 years.

Shumpert had a knee injury and was caught in a #'s game/not an LBJ favorite in Cleveland. While known for his defense, the season before he shot 36% from 3, the second best % of his career (he would have much better looks here)....solid role player...classic 3 and D.

Kosta crashes the boards with the best, spaces the floor, AND, is great at executing/finishing the pick and roll. Plus, he also was caught up in a situation where he couldn't get more playing time due to the Kings frontcourt.

Everyone knows DM wanted them before, and they would instantly become rotation players. These are known commodities...with some upside.

And, they're both on expiring player options.

You know what date is 11/27/2017?

The date Shumpert last played a NBA game.

Oh I take it back, he played 6 more minutes 2 months later on 1/23.

So you get the idea how hot a commodity he is now.

Trading for Ryan Anderson is like the most Kings-esque move that the Kings could possibly make considering their roster right now.

The main problem is it's difficult to use him for meaningful minutes at backup C (or C period) vs. most teams, and it's not an ideal position for him to play given his history with injuries. We'd rather not use him at PF since PJ Tucker is far superior there as an overall player. It's not necessarily that Ryno is bad, it's just that our team got way better since we initially picked him up, and we have less need for him to contribute usage on offense, and he's certainly capable of handling secondary or tertiary offensive usage on a mediocre team.

In terms of who fills his role, it's just going to be PJ, Ennis, possibly Melo and whoever else we acquire that will eat PF minutes. If we lose Ryno it's likely we still roll with Nene at backup C or acquire another solid 10-15 mpg backup C.

Shumpert for Ryno makes some sense. Leaves them room to go after Bjelica if they want to. I'm not sure we would take both Shumpert and Kosta unless Sacramento was willing to take back Nene.

Kings In: Anderson, Onuaku, Nene, 2019 1st, 2020 2nd, $1.6 million cash for taking Onuaku.

    Houston In: Shumpert and Kosta

For Houston, that's $25.5 out and $19.7 in, or a savings of $5.8 million this season and unloading Andersons contract for next season.

That would leave Sacramento $14-15 million in cap space...enough to complete another salary dump to collect assets.

    CP3 / MCW / Melton
    Harden / Gordon / Green
    Shumpert / Ennis
    Tucker / Melo / Edwards
    Capela / Kosta / Zhou / Hartenstein

Why would the Kings want Rocket's high pick? It's not worth it for Ryan Anderson's contract.

Huh? Trading Ryan Anderson opens up space to actually make the necessary moves to beat GS. Him actually being on the team HURTS our chances

Believable. Financially Troubled Tillman will sell of the Rockets future to save luxury tax.

Morey has coveted Shump in past but MCW provides same role as Shump.

If 100%, Shump is more explosive scorer, tougher defender and better 3 ball. But MCW is younger, longer and better facillitator.

Cheaper and fewer attitude concerns too, but neither are starters IMO.

Yeah, honestly the owner should pay whatever luxury tax that comes his way. I think he should be paying 300 mil in taxes imo.

Didn't look all the pages so, i guess somebody already said this, but if they sign Bjelica there's no chance they take on Ryan unless we trade them at least a 1st rounder.

i'm not a fan of shumpert at all, he simply can't shoot. he's also 3 inches shorter than ariza and prince which still wouldn't solve our defensive issues against guys like KD, PG13, alphabet, lebron, etc

but on the other hand, i really want to finally be rid of ryno's contract
