I have to order a Grammar book and I get free shipping if I spend over $39, so I'm going to get a few extras thrown in to take advantage.

So, what are some good novels (old or new... not hardcover though) that you would recommend?

My favorite genres are Fantasy, Science Fiction and Western.

I love Harry Potter and own them all except for the newest one. I'm still waiting for the paperback to come out.

I found a few Conan novels that I haven't read. I think I'll just get those.

The Enemy Within, by Michael Savage.

    Book Description:
Talk radio sensation and New York Times bestselling author Michael Savage again goes for the jugular in this latest brash, incendiary attack on the corrosive effects of liberalism on our culture. Where The Savage Nation took shots at everything under the political spectrum, this book focuses squarely on the dangers assailing the cornerstones of American life, pointing out how liberal propaganda and agendas are seeping into our churches, our schools, even our families. Bold, sometimes angry, and always controversial, this book is pure, no-holds-barred Michael Savage, one of the strongest, most original voices in America today.

I finished Angels and Demons about a week ago. I actually liked it more than the DaVinci Code, which I really enjoyed.

I'm reading Bel Canto by Ann Patchett right now. Very good.

    Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides
    Empire Falls by Richard Russo
Life of Pi by Yann Martel

These are probably my three favorites right now.

Stephen King's Dark Tower series is fantastic. A cross of fantasy and western.

The first book (which he wrote when he was 19) is the most difficult to get through. Read that one, though, and you'll be hooked...

    The series is:

    The Gunslinger
    The Drawing of the Three
    The Waste Lands
    Wizard and Glass
    Wolves of the Calla
Song of Susannah (to be released around May of this year)
The Dark Tower (to be released around November of this year)

Edit: (I love having it back!!! :D )

You can't go wrong with Harry Potter, as other people have mentioned...

    SciFi:
Jurassic Park or Timeline by Michael Crichton
Caverns of Socrates by Dennis L. Mckiernan (actually more of a sci-fi/fantasy)
The Legend of the Jade Phoenix trilogy by Robert Thurston (now available in one omnibus volume I think)
    Fantasy:
Of course the works of JRR Tolkien, though they can be a bit slow at times.
The Annotated Chronicles by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman
The Death-gate Cycle by the same authors
The entire series of the Myth-adventures of Aahz and Skeeve by Robert Aspirin if you are in the mood for some good laughs. (the first volume is called Another Fine Myth)
Into the Fire and Into the Forge by Dennis L. McKiernan (on these, I would recommend reading Caverns of Socrates first, to get a feel for his style, if you like it, then check out all his books set in Mithgar)

If anybody reads (any of) those and likes them, I would be happy to provide more titles.

Ender's Game is a must-read, along with the other three books in the series- Speaker for the Dead, Xenocide, and Children of the Mind.

Every book since then has not been up to par, as far as I'm concerned, and they're Bean's books anyway, not Ender's.
