Nah. I have spent a lot of time in both cities and while Toronto is nice, Houston is better and has a better long term outlook.

I guess the Spurs ownership was like: who cares about 1 extra year of tanking if you can send Leonard to Toronto, have his agent lose out on $40m+ commission target and put Leonard in a situation where he can either act two faced (act like he's ok and bolt) or a totally unmanageable player (2 years of holding out on his team @ max salary).

The Lakers last year definitely weren't in position to make the playoffs due to a number of factors, not least of which was the lack in veteran leadership, health, team chemistry, and an abundance of off-court drama. The talent was there, just not anything else. Lebron coming on board along with Rondo will make a huge difference, provided they can stay healthy and improve their game on the court.

Danny Green makes this trade look pretty nice for Toronto. They should have one solid season to make a go at the title.

I cant find any quotes from Kawhi guaranteeing hell sign with the Lakers , nothing to prove it wasnt leaked by agents to facilitate trade. Hes not marketable and I can't see him leaving 40,50 mil on table to play there in 2019.

They're going to be better than the Spurs.

Well, maybe it didn't happen because the owner of Toronto didn't want a leak about DDR. He said he wanted to tell him of the trade personally. I could see that being TOR demanding secrecy.

While theoretically teams might give up more if they can speak to Kawhi first, I don't blame teams for proceeding like normal in a trade. Just why does Pops make those promises to please and stay in touch, then. Unneeded.

Considering that SA had very little leverage, IMO this is a win for them.

He is not leaving $40 million. He can sign another contract! He just can't sign a 5 years contract, so he signs a 4 years contract and he will then sign another contract in his prime! It's not like he can't get that money from another team after he signs the 4 years contract next year, it just won't be on the SAME Contract

Plus, he will get taxed by the Canucks and the USA

This is what happens when people don't understand the numbers they are trying to crunch. He is using peak Kawhi to project future Toronto and San Antonio and the fact is he hasn't played meaningful basketball in over a year so we have no idea how he is going to perform post injury but we can be somewhat confident that he will be less than peak based on the data of every sport star who has ever been injured.

    LOL!!

Only Laker fans believe Ingram/Hart is somehow a better deal

For everybody else, a legitimate MVP/All star candidate for another All Star/potential MVP candidate is a good trade

If anybody should be worried it would be the Raptors. Pop made a good trade considering the circumstances.

What would make this extra great is if the Spurs finish ahead of the Lakers.

Absolutely. And give Hart/Ingram a couple of years to develop and we'll see that they are way more effective than DeRozan. Instead of the Spurs choosing to go with medium risk high reward, they went with low risk low reward.

in a couple years, i dont expect either to accomplish what derozan has so you can hope for that if you want. what you should be hoping for is being able to be role players next to lebron bc thats all they've shown thus far if even

Did you just say Popovich screwed the Spurs out of Spite for Leonard? That's the way "likely take less" to "give KL the middle finger" reads to me.

If he acted out of Spite in a self-harming way that you lay out, what does that actually say about him vs ppl like Rudy and Carroll Dawson.
