Hood would be the perfect 3&D player to replace Ariza. He could play the 4 if needed and he's almost as good as Trev on corner 3's. Just what we need.

What a pretty good offseason if we get melo, ennis, hood, retain capela, and have guys like duval, house, and melton in our back pockets

Getting RH would require him really, really wanting to paly@TheToyShop. (Or someone w/8 x 10 glossies.)

Why would they ask for Melton when they have Sexton?

Hood drops off a lot in the playoffs. Lower percentages and point production. It would be like seeing the same that we saw this postseason. We need guys with mental grit and don’t drop off as much when it counts.

Rodney Hood is one of the softest players in the league. Uber injury prone. Absolute weapon on offence though, and serviceable on D with his length.

He’d fit like a glove in Houston, but only if our medical staff can toughen him up.

He’s the type of guy to miss 2 weeks with a bruised pinky finger.

That’s okay, we have James to Harden him up.

My first (and only) Harden pun.

Agreed but Hood has a lot of red flags around the league that fans don’t see. Even Zach Lowe at the deadline said a lot of GM’s told him they wouldn’t want him at all. He has maturity issues, his competitiveness has been questioned in his own locker room and he had issues with both his coaches. He also has the reputation as being someone that struggles with pressure.

Couple of things. Cavs are over the cap space and they are looking to get rid of contracts, don't be fool by them. They will not match hood.

Second, we have no cap base to offer anyone above min contract. So we are not in the hunt for hood.

Trade? Maybe, but I don't see Cavs willing to trade love and hood for Ryno and picks.

Rodney Hood is so bad on a substantive level on both ends it's not even funny.

Utah gave him away for nothing for a reason. Cleveland may damn well let him go for a reason.

Maybe Morey's backup plan for $4.3 million if Melo picks Miami?

Doesn't hurt to add for depth. Melton could play as a 2 off the bench. If they don't need him, they could ask for a first rounder instead.

So, if not Hood, who starts at SF? Ennis? If so, who backs him up? There are no other decent FA’s to sign for a minimum level contract. If Anthony doesn’t sign the our only hope is to trade Anderson, and that seems unlikely at this point. Yeah, I’d take a guy like RH off the bench for the minimum. Oh, and he can play defense. He used to give Harden fits.

any contract we signed him to would be a value contract, so why wouldn't cleveland match, even if just to retain the asset so they can get some sort of return on investment by shipping him somewhere else?

I think it would have to be a situation where Houston was compensating Cleveland not to match.

This isnt going to happen... but it were to happen.. Melo would have to take the Vet min.. .and Rockets would offer the MLE to RH.

AND...... RH would have to let it be known to CLEVELAND that he does not want to play there at all and wants to move on.

In other words... its not happening.

No interest at all in Hood, except with the vet minimum.
    He is a lockeroom cancer.

Great option but I think this news is from RH and his camp in an attempt to use Rox for leverage to create some urgency.

He is one of the worst defenders in the NBA. Awful footwork, not strong enough to fight through screens whatsoever. No rebounding and help awareness , and has a wingspan that is very short, relatively speaking at 6'8". On top of all that he plays with no force, which is why coaches hate him. His offense is non-existent outside of simply being a below average volume shooter. No vision, no handles, no real strengths at all.

He has never been close to good in the NBA. I can't believe people are making me compliment Ariza's old ass. Not every black 6'8" ish shooter(Not COMPETENT shooter, but simply has a green light to shoot), is a good 3D guy. Damn sure not Rodney Hood.
