Paul McBeth, basically the Lebron James of disc golf, just shot a -18

ESPN did some pretty good coverage of it.

The guy in second place was also on fire, by normal standards, and shot a bogie free -11, and wasn't even close to contention.

I know this is a basketball forum and most of you have never played disc golf, but this is really a pretty insane accomplishment at a major Pro Tour event and thought it was worth sharing.

Is that's what he's doing these days?

Gone pretty far sidelining as a bartending, 4-on-1 street brawler who happens to live with a bunch of hot college roommates.

wait, those aren't all Par-3s. He has some 5-pars and 4-pars. I'm less impressed. I'd have to see the course. Without seeing the course, I'd be more inclined to be blindly impressed by a -18 on eighteen Par-3 holes.

Any hole that's a par 4 or 5 for a professional tournament is something that nearly impossible (par 4), or simply not reachable (par 5) by anyone in one throw. Most par 4's are considered unreachable, but an occasional few are reachable by a magic, perfectly executed 500 foot shot or something. You see maybe 2 or 3 Eagles from the entire field in a typical tournament.

I guarantee you're not gonna be able to 2 a 900 foot uphill tunnel shot.

I didn't say there is anything wrong with how they do Par. I'm sure, just like real golf, those Par 4s can not be reached from the tee. I'm just saying (as a very skilled amateur and long time player), that Par 4 and 5s are nearly always easier for me to Birdie....they give you the ability to make an in-hole correction for birdie, like he did on that 16 hole.

Plus, the ability to pull off an eagle, really helps. Like he did on an early hole. Those are easier to get than hole-in ones.

The Alll, Par 3s courses are exhausting, because I feel like I have to make a nearly flawless drive on every hole. Thus, while that course might be one of the hardest pro courses, I'd have to see it vs a Par-3 course. I'd be more blindly impressed with 18 birdies in a row...even without seeing the course...sorta like a 900 in league bowling.

    make sense?

Kind of cool but I was thinking really small discs and specialized small disc basket holes (SSDBH). The course would also be optimized smaller and each hole would be surrounded by netting all around (w/ door cutouts). This is so you can do throws where the disc bounces off the net. My personal formulas have found that the 5" miniature discs I've designed (patent pending) will bounce off the an adjustably tensioned net with a consistent degree of accuracy, bouncy, and veracity making for some incredibly insane shots that otherwise would just not be possible. Plus, each hole will be themed with modern themes...not just your standard Egypt pyramid theme, your standard waterfall theme, etc. .. I will also have live birds target practice in one net enclosure and, if you hit a bird, then you get to take it home with you (up to 5 limit per person).

Oh well...it was just one idea I had. ;)

Disc golf deserves an 80's style movie with a group of underdogs challenging the local preps to a game to keep the (whatever) and the main character gets the girl. Lots of non-enhanced boobies.

Also, don't you live in Colorado now or something? We need to play a round together.
