To clint Capela and sign anyone out in the market for money? Or was there a certain date they had and passed up. Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle: Rockets center Clint Capela will become a restricted free agent next off-season, a person with knowledge of the Rockets’ plans said. The Rockets risk Capela improving his stock and earning more money than he would’ve gotten now, but they gain flexibility. Capela will count just $7,003,585 against the cap next summer until signed or renounced. If he signed an extension, he would’ve immediately counted at his 2017-18 salary, which surely would’ve been higher. This way, Houston can conduct its other business then exceed the salary cap to re-sign Capela using his Bird Rights. Just wondering how much money they would have if they Renounce his rights? If only 7 million they would get freed why not go after someone on the market like Alex Len?
Sorry but for such a risky question, you would've been safer tucking it one of 10 existing threads. The risk did not pay off: the answer is that it possible, but you never let an asset go for nothing, it wouldn't resolve our cap issues, and would be insanely dumb.
Yes, Rockets can withdraw the qualifying offer and renounce the right to sign Capela over the cap. But, Rockets already have zero cap room left, so it doesn't make any sense to do. It is not even good for Capela, because if the Rockets can't sign him over the cap, no other team will ever offer him a 5 year 85M deal. The leverage Capela is using now is exactly this. He knows he is important for our team, and even though there is no other team giving him any offer, the Rockets will have to. It's similar to TT and JR, but I doubt Capela will get what he wants, because he doesn't have Lebron backing him up.
Dude, your guy gonna get destroyed by Qi in the practice, Qi gonna block his every single attempt to the rim just like what happened on Nov 16th, 2017. You expect him 10/10 in no time? Come on, man.,..SMH
Capela has gotten block a couple times by smaller guys by going soft The problem with this is if Capela isn’t happy with the money which I think it’s a very good offer. Then this coming season he might not play the same way but he has to if he wants to get paid though. But there might be tension or friction in the locker room. I just think Capela believes he is irreplaceable that all those 50-2 games or so w harden cp3 and Capela he was very crucial. He doesn’t see that it is Harden and cp3 which crates the space for him to get open shots or just dunks ( in Capela’s case mostly layups ) Capela can be desplaced maybe not this year but for sure next year. He has potential and all but he still is not worth 100m. How much did harden get He was getting paid like 15m or 17m Now Capela wants more ? I know other years other players or players on another team have gotten overpaid. But morey won’t do another Bad contract just to keep him.
We ain’t renouncing shiet. If we lose him it won’t be until next offseason after he gave us a whole another season off cheap labor, then he can leave! By then Anderson will hopefully be easier to trade and maybe-hopefully we can flip him for a center.
Yea he will. Bima said he will probably get trade by the trade dateline since the contract will be less money and will be for almost a year.
His defense alone bro....he will be missed, even though the against the warriors he was exposed some...but that's the warriors..
But he's probably thinking about things on the other side. In other words how many guys could be as effective in the PnR with CP3 and Harden along with being a rim protector that can cover guys on the perimeter.
