Holy crap, you guys! Never knew this band, but this track alone is pretty much making a trip with my mother-in-law totally worth it. Rocks. And torn was in Buddha on the Moon?? WHA. Or is? I like that stuff a lot.
that track is off an album called 'three sheets to the wind', which is their best, imo. came out in 1995 or so and still holds up great. really good songs and unique guitar sounds/alternate tunings. like torn said, they played these custom made 4 string guitars. they were also really good at using feedback as a texture. the albums before that are good too. the later albums are kind of sad-guy piano stuff. and yes, torn played drums in buddah on the moon. i saw them several times and now 25 years later here we are on clutchfans...small world! haha.
Awesome. And I had played some of their tracks in my radio shows. Thanks much. The thread, it surprised!
I live in McCall idaho. It is two hours north of Boise and is a popular tourist destination. Mountain lakes, hiking, nice beaches. Enough to do and it’s a cool place to hang out. The drive up alone would be worth the trip. I would say a hard no on Twin falls. Southern Idaho is the worst, unless you are into high desert with rugged beauty that manifests itself for about 5 minutes everyday, if you can ignore the wind long enough.
Thanks very much! Would September be too late to visit? I'd think that would be pretty nice, maybe a bit chilly at night but not icy and snowy yet.
September is the best month to visit. The tourists are all gone and the weather is awesome. It is cold at night but generally not freezing. The lake is still warm and you can get good deals on Airbnb or vrbo. I would recommend getting a house if you are staying overnight.
I would not recommend taking her for a 2 week elk hunt in the Bitterroot on horses and pack mules. It gets a bit chilly at night.
Its not exactly near Boise, but I suggest Coeur d'Alene? It's a spectacular lake and resort in northern Idaho....a short drive away from Spokane. Lots of water sports...fishing, boating, tours, waterskiing and jet skiing available. Also some great Golf Courses and restaurants. Of course the scenery is spectacular.
My parents actually did this. My father was driving and spotted a potato farm and thought it would be neat to check out. My mother thought he was crazy. Ended up being one of the more memorable things they did.
Just came back from three weeks in NW Montana (right next door to the Idaho panhandle), and I already miss it so much. So gorgeous up there.
Ah Flathead. Always with the Flathead. There are many treasures around NW Montana. Flathead isn't hipster enough for me.
