Every time that CP3 got hurt in the regular leason last year, I had the same thought. Always knew that I would have to accept the fact that if we had him for 4-5 years, we would lose many games and probably lose him for or during the playoffs 2-3 years. This did not make me feel any better during the emotional roller coaster that was realizing we were going to win game 5 only to see him gimp out. Our backcourt is going to yield a lot of success over the next 4 years. We will have a chance at a title during any playoff run that we are healthy. At this point, I am hoping we go 3/5 in the CP3 era (and subsequently win 3/5 titles). As nerve-racking as the max is for CP, we simply had to accept that we started 0/1 and hope to go 3/4. I don't believe that is the best chance we will get. I buy in to what the org has going on and a title in year 1 of the CP era would have been beyond the wild dreams of most. I hate losing Ariza. I hate losing Prince (better player on both sides IMO) more. Ariza was not capable of being a starter anymore. He can certainly do it but we need a two way option at that spot. I thought that a healthy Prince could certainly be the answer at the 3. I guess I will cede to the judgement of DM and crew. Maybe they think that Eric Gordon is capable of being the primary defender on the perimiter. Eyeballin it, I personally agree. Ryan Anderson will be MUCH easier to give away this February. Our willingness to go all-in with future picks and the 1.5 seasons left will look good to some team looking to rebuild. We will be over the cap for the forseeable future and we must find a way to turn the Anderson contract into an impact player(s) We have every reason in the world to aim for a ring. It just seems that people are jumping to the conclusion that it is next year or bust. I don't feel this way. It was always going to be tenuous with CPKnee33 but it is about the next 4 years. Let Melton and Hartenstein take some minutes at the beginning of the year. Let Joe Chee fumble around a bit. Winning 3 out of 5 championships won't be that bad.
And since he's no longer on the team, can we dispense with "The Prince" as a nickname? I cringe every time I hear/read that (along with "The Chief" Aminu in PDX).
The Chief was Robert Parish of the ole Celtics …. Aminu doesn't measure up and shouldn't be using a HOFER's nickname.
