The only true center in the league better then Yao Ming is Shaq, and Shaq is on IR. I wish people would think before starting a thread like this. Now they're going to be ridiculed by the majority of the board.

I do not think Rox fans really want to trade Yao. They just hate it when Yao has not turned out to be as good as they thought he would be

I have watched a few Rox games. That 9 for 9 and 20 point game against my Lakers was very impressive. His 3 quick blocks on Shaq showed some potential. I thought he could do that regularly when get more NBA playing experiences. Well, this is his second year and you can hardlt see yao looking for blocks as active as he did it in that game. Is this the Yao we will ever see?

The guy's blocking 2 shots per game what do you want?

I think that the rotation of Yao, Cato, and Motay is working out well for us. The weak link out of the three isn't Yao, IMo I think its Motay, but he is the best offensive power forward on the team.

Yao isn't going any where. Its stupid to think about it and even dumber to post a thread about it.

Man, give Yao some time. He is not ready to be the dominating presence the Rockets want him to be at the moment but he is only in his secong year and is only 22 yrs. old.

We don't want to or need to remove Yao, he aint a wart...

we already have a real center - Cato. We just need him to play some power forward minutes too... (see Western Conference)

Yao Ming is as advertised, nothing else, even though many want him to be something else! He is Chinese, came with no experience how the Game is played in the USA, he came with big cultural differences of language and mind set. He came to learn the NBA Game and help put chinese Basketball on the map, here on the number one basketball stage. Yao Ming will never be another Shaq or Hakeem, its impossible! He will develop into a great Yao Ming. Its going to take time and experience and patience by the Rockets Fans.

I've been very harsh on Yao about his lack of aggressiveness. But this is crazy. The guy has not even reach 1/2 way in his second year yet and some people already want to give up on him.

Come on... you've got to expect more than 2 blocks from Yao. The guy is 7'6 with good athletism. Even Bol blocked more than Yao ...

If you stay with Yao your risk is: you end up with a gentle soft 7'6 center who will be as good as you see now.

If you can get Dampier, Dunleavy, Richarson and a first rounder for Yao, you get a solid rebounding center, a combo forward with equal potential to Yao, an athletic swing man on the rise to stardom and a lottery pick. And more importantly, you send away your risk to the Warriors. Let the Warriors bear with the pain of watching a great "potential" eventually become just that: "potential".

In case the Rox have not tried yet, the Magic could be interested in Yao and agreed a trade of Yao for McGrady. Would not you go for it if it was offered?

Kobe will opt out of his contract this summer. If he was surely to leave and the Lakers offered a sign and trade of Kobe for Yao, would you not consider it?

All these trade talkes do not sound like too crazzy right now because Yao is still considered a great potential. Imagine in a couple of years Yao remains the same as now: a great potential, any of these trade talk would be considered crazy ...

The odds for success are best if the Rockets learn how to use Yao then if they attempt to replace him through a trade.

I can't believe this actually has to be pointed out to someone.

Just out of curiosity, why are you so certain that you're right?

Most of us are willing to look at Yao in terms of risk assessment.

At minimum, you have a very good but not great center. That's as he is now. IT's possible that he'll become a truly dominant player.

Those trades you mentioned are probably all possible - because your opinion is not universally shared. It would be possible to get more "certain bets" - but with a lower reward threshold as well.

So, in essence... you're simply risk averse. Put your argument in those terms, and you'll get less contempt in return from the rest of us.

You are absolutely right. Yao has been ranked by NBA by far the second best centre. Only Shaq was ahead, not by much this year, of him.

So, where is the real centre? This thread is strange. I wouldn't trade Yao even for Shaq give the age differential and Shaq is clearly going downhil due to aging and injury while Yao has been improving.

    :D

The Yao-Cato combination is working great at center. That position is no longer a concern. The largest gap on the team right now is the power forward position. We need a bruiser like Jerome Williams.
