It's the signed player you have to receive. If you receive the Free Agent who signed a contract in a Sign-n-Trade, you are hardcapped. You can receive non free agents in trade all you want.
At worst, Lakes have set themselves up for mid-season trades (see: Cavs 2/18?). To date, LBJ has shown a strong degree of immortality. I do. not. underestimate. Mr James.
McGee and Stephenson are considered guys with big potential who never really realized it. Rondo is a guy who did realize his potential but seems to hate playing up to it unless the conditions are perfect. So I actually agree with you: They're arrogant if they think they can get much out of these guys. Or more likely, they're probably hoping that being on the world-famous Lakers with the best player in the world might motivate them. I think they'll find out how wrong-headed that thinking is. They should've signed Boogie to a one-year cheap deal and kept Randle, then just waited to see what happens with Kawhi. Either way, they're not going to do much of anything this year, but at least they'd have introduced Boogie to Laker culture and see what he's capable of now. Even if they lost Randle and Ingram next summer to land Kawhi or KD, LeBron/healthy Boogie/Kawhi-or-KD would be a monster team. TL;DR: They're arrogant AND idiots.
Because they know they'd be helping us get better and in exchange they'd take on a nearly useless asset for them? They have tons of young low upside guys, they don't need a 2nd. I mean I hope they do it, but this seems like a favor.
Nearly all SnTs in the history of SnTs have a favor involved ... with quid-pro-quo stuff....including favors to and by the player. And this is a minor favor. lulz at a lotto team worried about a TPE of a contender, anymore than Cuban worried about helping GSW land Durant. Another fact of favors is that GMs do each other favors as much as Agents do GMs favors and vice versa. And this is very minor. Seems you're overly focused on shooting this down, and quite possibly from the wrong angle. imo, the only reason @joshuaao's offer isn't accepted is by Ariza. For some odd reason, he might not want to grant PHX the ability to keep him for $15m on a June 2019 g'tee trigger date, but something tells me Ariza might be fine with that. As long as it's before July 1st (like Ty Lawson, PJ Tucker and DMo got), his personality lends me to believe in his twilight years, he might be happy just being a mentor (at $15m) for two stars (assuming Ayton isn't a bust). Also, I could see Harden and Paul convincing Ariza to back such a SnT (2nd round pick for TPE) as a rather harmless, parting favor.
Would be good to get him back. We've spent a lot of time focusing on our starting SF spot, but there's a lot left to do with the bench.
According to a quick google search, Houston has one of the bigger Cameroonian population in the States, maybe that plays into his decision?

He would be forced to come off the bench. He wouldn’t have a choice. Melo in GSW could be even more deadly. I wouldn’t want that. If there’s a team in the league that can put him in his place it’s GSW
Butt hurt, butt hurt everywhere in the NBA. Marcus Smart Frustrated He Hasn't Heard From Celtics In Free Agency Spoiler Marcus Smart and his camp are still waiting to hear from the Boston Celtics in free agency. Smart is frustrated by how the Celtics haven't reached out to him. “He loves the Celtics, but with these crickets he’s hearing, he’s hurt and disgusted by it,” said the source. The market for restricted free agents like Smart has been soft. “I don’t think that bothers Marcus as much as no communication from Danny (Ainge),” said the source. Danny Ainge declined comment on Thursday. Boston's only tangible bid remains their $6.05 million qualifying offer. “He would have thought there would have been some kind of three- to four-year deal from them to show they’re interested,” said the source. “But the qualifying offer is the only one he has received, and there’s been no talk since free agency opened. He’s most disappointed that there has been no reaching out from their end. “He’s just hurt and frustrated that Danny hasn’t reached out. That’s the most discouraging part of this whole thing. The last contact was a few days before free agency started. ”
