Totally agree... But the quality of what's available is incredibly weak. Taking a flyer on a dude who could give us something during the playoffs is far more valuable imo. Cousins wouldn't have to play until next May. In any case, we'll see what happens with the MLE.
It takes the Rockets forever to do everything... Harden wasn't traded to us till like 2 days before a preseason game.
Not downplaying the injury... By next playoffs, he'll be good to contribute. Just saying, you're basis for assuming Cousins is done is weak and there is very little data historically to back your point. Have you seen how he plays offense? His quickness is the least of his assets. Defensively, he'll struggle with the PnR... But post defense shouldnt be affected. I think he won't help the Warriors much bc every shot he takes is one less shot for Durant, Curry, Klay, etc... So I welcome them signing him, but there are plenty of other teams, Rockets included, that still need help in whatever form it may be.
That's absolutely ignoring the history of that injury. It's not a guarantee that he EVER will be a contributor on a playoff team again. Just saying. Anyway, if he beats the odds and gets back to being above a replacement level player at any point then I'll congratulate him for it, but I'm just not going to pretend that it's a given.
That is NOT the career arc most players with Achilles injuries have. I expect an Elton Brand level crater.
IF Demarcus has that career path, then he'll probably still average 20 and 10. Brand went from 20 and 9 to 15 and 8. Also, Brand was never as athletically gifted as Cousins...and given the advancement of medicine, even if Boogie takes the same route, he'll still be a solid player. Might take a year, but I wouldn't say he's done by any means.
Brand’s per game numbers dropped in half. His efficiency and +/- numbers plummeted. And this is a guy who did not rely on athleticism to be effective. Imagine what will happen to a guy who has mediocre fundamentals and relies a lot on athleticism. Look at Dwight after his injuries started. A shell of his former self.
As long as he doesn't play solid during the playoffs, i don't really care. I hope it does take more than year or so before he fully recovers and plays decent even. He isn't going to be with Warriors after next summer.
Is kenny Thomas available still. I feel he would fit well on this team and he would take the vet minimum.

I just saw Tmac in Sugarland, and I asked him about free agency. He smiled and said friday you will be more mellowed out. Not sure who he was referencing but pretty cryptic.
Demarcus is way more finesse than brand. Brand was an explosive played above the rim player. He is not the same as cousins. Cousins can do so much more than just relying on explosiveness.
