That jives with what the CHI reporter said. Butler knew Irving wanted out, talked to the Bulls, realized they couldn't make it work. The Bulls then decided to blow it up.

There was no reason for Jimmy(and his agent) to leak on purpose about East and Kyrie.

I think that they want to squash any trade talks Celtics currently are in that involve Kyrie. No leverage for Ainge.

i think folks need to get the Jimmy Butler situation out of their head. He's under contract, he's very desirable to most any team, and houston likely can't beat the best trade offer to get him. Plus i'm sure Minny would rather ship him eastward.

I don't think that's how it works mainly because he's a free agent to be. If he gives Houston assurances, they would send him EG who they would have under control through the 2019-20 season. We could send 3 first round picks also. No other team would get close to that offer without assurances. If JB wants to be in Houston, he may be able to make it happen.

Idk if that's true. We also thought the Celtics had easily the best package to make for Kawhi Leonard but as of now they won't even make Jaylen Brown available for him. Seems like they are content with the wings they have.

He needs to explicitly state that he wants to be a Rocket and accept nothing less.

    Otherwise yes, it is unlikely.

He does want to win, that much is clear. So that means his choices are pretty limited. Boston (who I doubt will have interest in him, they are wing loaded), Philly, OKC, Rockets.

He has to decide which team he thinks he can join that could knock out the Warriors.

I think the Rockets make the most sense for him. Philly is too young. OKC has PG13 and Melo for him to compete with for shots. Houston has a spot for him to naturally slide into and plus...it is like home (F what he think, Tomball is Houston)

    It's up to him.

The Rockets have to make him understand the situation that WE are in. Just like the warriors told Cousins that they could only afford him on the MLE...if players want to help us win they have to help us out. He does that by telling the league, like Kawhi, that he's not accepting anywhere but Houston and he can just say that he'd like to play for his 'hometown' team and compete. There you go.

If he plays around like Melo then another team is going to swoop in and take him.

EG could easily be flipped for a first and we can send out 19/21/23 picks. What other team can give them 4 firsts without assurances? I mean he may not give us that making this all worthless to talk about

The only way that Thibs will trade Butler to Houston is if he trades himself to Houston also.

Is Thibs still the GM? Probably one of the few ways for a big upgrade is taking advantage of a stupid team so I say go for it.

Sign Capela to a reasonable deal first and possibly swing him for Butler at the deadline.

Funny enough the NBA can actually block this trade, Silver will still let it go through though; anything for his beloved Warriors.

As things are progressing, we need to keep our entire group intact, Gordon, Green etc, and resign Capela...

AND get Butler to have any sort of realistic chance at a ring.

Basically, Ryan the scrub Anderson needs to be converted into someone coming in that is going to be as good or better than Butler, and we keep everyone else.

Doesn’t seem out of the question from either teams perspective. What other winning team can offer anything to Minny besides the Lakers or Celtics?

I think he’d be an upgrade over Ego and I very much like Ego and don’t want to lose him. It’s at worse a lateral move imo and likely to be much more.
