    How about:
    Hakeem Arena-lajuwon

    ------------------
Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon is the greatest player in the history of basketball. If you disagree, you are not a Rocket fan.

I think it should be a statue of Hakeem sitting on the scorer's table and simply surveying the scene after he led us to our first championship. [IMG]

RocketRiver, you beat me too it.

Posted up on the right box
    - Step left showing ball in left hand
    - Pivot right, feet parallel to baseline with both hands on ball
    - Fade away

Speaking of statues...when KJ was honored in Phoenix year they gave him a small bronz statue. It was him dunking over, you guessed it, Olajuwan in the playoffs.

How about a statue of when Dream rejected the Xman so hard he fell to the ground holding the ball.

How about a statue of Olajuwon passing out of a double team in the post to a second bronze statue of Matt Bullard spotting up for the wide open trey.

Since Hakeem is the greatest defensive center ever, I suggest a simple statue that captures Dream at his full height after a jump with the right arm at full extension as if he's about to block a shot.

How about a statue of Olajuwon holding the ball in the post, surrounded by like 3 statues of Olajuwon in various stages of his moves? Think of the agent in "The Matrix" that dodges all those bullets in blurred motion. You know, Olajuwon standing tall or beginning a "Dream Shake" in the center. Surrounding this statue, one of him elevating for a jump hook, another of him fading away for a turnaround, and another of him spinning baseline on David Robinson [IMG]

The beauty of his signature "Dream Shake" was watching the entire defense freeze or panic, realizing they were at his mercy, not knowing whether to defend the hook, the baseline spin, the jumper, the up-and-under, or the drive-to-the-basket-show-the-ball-reverse-pivot-soft-floater. Oh yes, and the alley-oop dunk. You couldn't defend the fadeaway. And that was only HALF the story of why he was so dominant.

Remember Hakeem coming out of nowhere to block Rod Strickland, who got loose on a fast break in the '94 playoffs (I think)? My recollection of that was of Rod, all alone, going in for a routine layup, and then Olajuwon suddenly flashing into the TV screen, like a subliminal message, slapping the ball away.

Or how about John Starks' final shot in game 6 of the '94 finals. Hakeem deflected the shot AT THE 3-POINT LINE! No wonder Starks shot, what, 2-17 the next game.

How could KJ forget Olajuwon running him down on a breakaway? I remember Ainge incredulously looking to the referees in exasperation after Hakeem cleanly stuffed KJ at the rim on that dunk - sorry, dunk ATTEMPT. Of course KJ's statue has him dunking on Hakeem, it was the greatest moment of his NBA career. I think it is more of a tribute to Hakeem than it is to KJ.

In my opinion, no one statue could capture the essence of Olajuwon in his prime. Even my vision of Hakeem Olajuwon statues only encompasses half of his brilliance.

Dream doing fade away would be cool.

Also I think they should have those instructional footsteps of the Dreamshake in the front the new arena.

If KJ can get a statue with him dunking on Dream...why not have a statue of Dream stuffing MJ....just like the wallpaper I've got on my system from the Multimedia page, only take Othella out of the picture.
