Just heard that on KILT. The Rockets can begin negotiations with Ward beginning 10am tomorrow, but several other teams are interested according to the station.
I hope that means we end up having to sign him to a big contract just to play. I wouldn't mind having him on the team, but not at expense of increasing our salary cap.
FWIW, I had NBA TV Insiders on in the background a few moments ago but didn't catch who made the comment. NY/NJ print media person....says it's definitely SA or HOU with NJ a distant 3rd. Ward likes SA & HOU but NJ is closer to home.
I posted this on the other Ward thread but I figured it would fit here also. "While Ward's agent, Craig McKenzie, maintained that "New Jersey is obviously a viable option because Charlie doesn't have to move" [from the metropolitan area], sources said Ward, who was waived by the Suns on Tuesday, is seeking a two- or three-year deal and that might send him to the Rockets or Spurs. Sources also maintained the Knicks are heavily in the mix. The Texas teams don't have money beyond the minimum but can offer years the Nets would not. McKenzie said he has been contacted by 10 teams." NY Post
