Are teams hesitant to deal with Morey because he has the reputation of almost always getting the better end of the deal? The EOY award cements that fact and I wonder if other GMs are going to begin to prefer dealing elsewhere based on the Morey’s history.

teams will always make a deal if they think its fair and will help them out based on their needs.

now lets say morey really likes a young player on the kings for some reason. early in his career they probably look at his offer and consider it whereas now they tell the coach to play him more to see how good he is.

I, for one, only make business deals based on how many awards the counter party has won. I will never buy a car from a "salesman of the month", no sir.

No. Not at all. In no way would a media award change how Morey’s peers think about him.

The way he continuously fleeces teams, adds role players from obscurity, and improves a team without ever dipping below .500 is the type of stuff that informs opinions.

GM's around the league were aware of Morey's abilities long before the Executive of the Year award. I don't think it makes a bit of difference.

You should tell your parents are the worst and maybe they will shower you with the positive affirmation you need.

Agreed. I think other GM's should be more worried about Boston and Mr. Aigne. I'm waiting for the year when Silver announces the entire first round going to Boston because everyone has traded their first round pick to them.

Morey has consistently said the best trades, the ones he prefers making, are those that benefit ALL parties. It's just smart business.

Of course, there are exceptions *cough* OKC.

whether or not his job gets more difficult due to his reputation, its incumbent on him to continue to improve his job performance and the team. Otherwise, he's out. That said, the low hanging fruit has been gone for a long time.

This reputation was earned FAR before he received this award.
