The other night Steve celebrated after Golden State was called for a 24 second violation, why is this aspect of the game not more celebrated. I mean if teams (specifically this one) were rewarded in some way for not allowing the other team to get off a shot wouldn't that add a positive to a defensive routine. That stat isn't even monitored! If I were a corporate sponser I would give money to a charity every time our team forced the violation, not only would it promote better defense but players would work harder to accomplish the damn thing.
What a great idea! I don't know how much Tim lurks but I hope he sees that suggestion. With the number of fast breaks the Rockets make, they're not exactly "breaking" Brake Check. Not sure Brake Check would buy into it, but "Lock Down D" is better than Locked Up Brakes? What other corp sponsor would be a fit?
Maybe SBC could donate to charity every time the Rockets break the elusive 70 point barrier. They could call it the *69 promotion.
They are rewarded - the other team doesn't get points from that trip down the floor AND the defending team gets the ball.
Nice and witty Yeah, the current promotion for home games is something like a free hamburger if the Rox score 100+. I hate to say it, but the big macs are safe. What they need to do is, have a promotion that will reimburse you the price of your ticket if they Rocket's fail to break 70. That would increase ticket sales and give the Rox more incentive to play basketball.
dude... I like the idea of adding "shotclock violations forced" right next to technical fouls down at the bottom of the box score. -------------------------------------------------- "insert something witty and clever here..."
