Not really, pretty much this (assuming you let Ariza go) is the situation, :

    Harden 30M
    Anderson 20M
    Gordon 13M
    Tucker 8M
    Capela cap holds 7M

...that's already 80M on 101/2, not even counting Nene, Nanu etc...anyway, not even close to have room for a max unless you dump Gordon or Ryan.

You may ask Capela to sign the qo and wait a year to get paid, pretty sure he wouldn't do that but, even if he does that the situation doesn't change for this season, and you would also risk to lose him cause he would be unrestricted next summer.Anyway, even assuming you get a max slot now, who would you sign? Cousins? Not worth gutting the roster obviously.

No way Kevin Love stays in Cleveland and if Cleveland is rebuilding we should send them Ryno +picks/assets for Love. Love would be a perfect stretch 4.

I don't think you get it. If you are worried about something being 'exposed', don't post it. @cyberx clearly isn't worried about that. Besides, it's not like he's posting under his real name.

Do you think Daryl Morey is an idiot? Per multiple reports locally and nationally, the Rockets were still "all in" on LeBron as recently as 2 days ago. That's not something you do if there's this established, obvious "fact" that he's not interested.

There's only one team out of 30 that LeBron can say yes to. It's not like there's something inherently wrong with your team, if it's not yours. It doesn't mean it wasn't possible or that there was never a reason to buy into the possibility, or that there's a reason to mock folks who dared keep an open mind to it.

If you want to go around prematurely quitting and mocking anyone who dares pursue the possibility, go right ahead. Fortunately, Daryl Morey doesn't believe in this, as proven by the presence of Chris Paul. (Seriously, how many popular narratives eliminated the Rockets for CP last June?)

Isn't cp's cap hold 35 mill? With 35 mill we could easily get Tyreke Evans and Avery Bradley. If we succeed at shedding Anderson we could add 20 mill more in FA pieces, someone like a KCP. Though I think we would need to focus on 3s and 4s. Reasonably if we're shedding Anderson it's probably going to be for something in return, and not something magnificent either. I would love to get Enes Kanter for his hard nose for the ball offense. He's a defensive liability sure but iirc he's historically had a positive net rating.

Then after we've secured our free agents we can go over the cap to sign Capela.

But this is all hypothetical, CP3 is staying.

[[Edit: read @Vivi above for more detailed and correct analysis. I didn't account for growth, Hardens 30 and Capela 7, not into revisionist history so I'm not deleting the content]]

I get it. I do. If you put it on the internet any and everyone can/may see it. Even though he is using a fake name does not mean it is not mean it can't be traced back to him (actual person). The bigger the audience that sees the info, the better the chance it gets traced back, and he stops cause his sources quit feeding him or worse (loses job).

Tyreke and Avery Bradley combined dont amount to what CP gives us.

And once again, if he was at all worried about any of that, he shouldn't post in the first place. He's a big boy. You're worrying about a non-issue.

That's not a great bar to set, there are few players that fit that bill and none available. My point was more that if CP3 leaves you have money to spend and getting two high rotation players is better than nothing.

Also, Clutchfans isn't some quiet circle of rockets fans. Putting it on here is on the same level as putting it on reddit if you ask me. We have tons of lurkers and have one of the best forums in the league.

I know it makes sense basketball wise, but so did LeBron to Houston.

Not just basketball sense. CP3 was at LA living it up with Harden for his MVP award. CP3 was actively recruiting LeBron to come here. CP3 has been outspoken about being a rocket, and correct me if I'm wrong he recently bought a house closer to the arena too. Plus, CP3 just uprooted his kids. Is he really going to do that again?

I get all that but still... also, did he uproot his kids or did they stay going to school in LA and all he would have to do is put his htown house up for sale?

They moved out here to the best of my knowledge.

Buying his house is more of a mindset of a guy who was committed to this team. He can do all that, but again, if he was just going to follow LeBron I wouldn't see him doing all that. I think his pitch to LBJ wasn't "let's play together", it was "see what we built in a year? A team that's gotten 3x as many wins against the warriors as your team did in the last 2 years and we're having fun doing it. Plus, we can play together". Following LBJ to LA is still missing a lot of the key components of what made this year's team special.
