Kevin Love seems like a logical target for the Rockets. His defense has improved a lot in Cleveland, he can score when he needs to and can pass. The problem is, if the Cavs are going to move Love, they are going to want to get rid of some of their luxury tax/repeater tax issues. The Rockets cannot do that, they have to deal players under contract like Anderson. Even if the Rockets dealt several #1 picks for Love, I don't think that is enough to get it done.
I had a bit of reservation about a Lebron possibility because I felt him coming in for even just a couple of seasons would have pushed Harden to the back seat. Harden isn't the Alpha that Lebron is. His ego wouldn't take well to losing the team to Lebron since he wants to win as the leader and I'm sure Lebron does too. Also, when was the last time Lebron had a coach he respected enough to not step on their toes? He wants to be GM, coach, and player. Lebron is amazing and I would have been happy if we got him but the dynamics of the team would've been an interesting story and potentially not in the most positive way.
Sources told me that the Spurs are pissed, they had the Lakers right where they wanted them... Lakers were going to give up the bank for Kawhi so that they could land Bron... Bron saw what was happening and didn't want the Lakers to give everything up, therefore, he informed Cavs early, and took the leverage away from SA.
That certainly makes sense. The Spurs are stubborn. They can keep Leonard and deal him at the deadline or they can deal him elsewhere as an elite rental. The Lakers may save an asset or two, but at the end of the day they are going to have to pay a lot for Leonard. Especially if they think that San Antonio is going to take on Deng. Just taking on the contract of Deng is worth a lot of assets.
Actually maybe it does have much to do with Houston's talent. LeBron knows he is aging and Harden is still on his way up. I do not believe LeBron would ever want to be on a team where he might eventually be seen as the second best player. Just speculation.
The Spurs should just blue ball LeBron then and make him choose between the bare bones Lakers or Cleveland
I can see Harden not having that great feeling about having Lebron here, it's understandable, seems like Harden is somehow more active when he wants to play with someone, who knows if this means something. Butler definitely wouldn't steal him the lights here.
Morey crosses plan A out. Moves to plan B, C, D.... I am fine with that. We'll get better, which is huge for a team that won 65 games. Just dissapointed LeBron made the wrong decision.
I doubt they will deal him to the lakers.. It just wont happen.. I think Boston or philly will take the risk like OKC did with George
I have a feeling that Morey is gonna do something completely unexpected, like acquire Butler. Typically when the Rockets are quiet, Morey has something big brewing.
yes it can work both ways. The more time it passes, the less capspace it will be available for the Lakers. I.E if they sign Cousins or PG. Then Kawhi simply can't sign to the Lakers as a UFA and his trade value will skyrocket. In the end it means that Lebron isn't interested to trade for Kawhi at all costs.
I love Harden, but he wont win a championship like Lebron can.. (Harden needed Lebron) this is a sad day (yes i know we won 65 games last year, but it all comes down to winning a ring
