What a monster Kyle Tucker is. 25-48 in his last 11 games. That's over .500 average... Only 21 and doing it at Triple AAA.
Jairo Solis allowed a run on four hits, walked one, and struck out four in five innings for Quad Cities last night. It looks like he's getting acclimated after that horror show of a debut.
Julio Robaina had a nice debut Monday, but this one is not going so well. He's given up 7 runs in the first inning on 4 hits and 3 walks. He did strike out the two best prospects he faced in Ronny Mauricio and Jarred Kelenic though.
And down in the Dominican, Victor Mascai whacked a two-run homer, his third of the season. Ernesto Jaquez has thrown four perfect innings, striking out six. The DSL game is currently in a rain delay with the Astros leading the A's 4-1.
Jaquez got a fair size bonus for an older Latin player, wouldn't be surprised if he's stateside soon.
Agree But I could give a **** about two people having a pissing contest over who knows more or who’s he ain’t a point above a 46 and you know it
Alvarez is the Correa replacement. Owns the eye test. Dont feel the Yankees or sox have any interest in him with their bloated contracts and long term hitters 2-5, but the Dodgers or Braves are the leading contenders in 3 years to give him an 8 year, 200-250 mil contract.
This is the first time that I've heard about any kind of plan to turn Yordan Alvarez into a shortstop.
Chandler Taylor has hit his first homer as a pro. It's a two-run shot that has given Quad Cities a 3-0 lead.
International Free Agency. The Astros enter their second year in the penalty box, so they won’t be able to sign anyone for more than $300,000. One pitcher linked to the Astros is Venezuelan righthander Johangel Ramirez, who has been able to get swings and misses with a mid- to upper-80s fastball and feel to spin a low-70s curveball. Cuban outfielder Frank Perez, who hit .374/.528/.549 in 129 plate appearances in Cuba’s 15U national league in 2016, is another player expected to sign with the Astros. So are Venezeulan catcher Miguel Palma and Dominican outfielder Tomas Ramirez. https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/al-west-2018-international-signing-previews/
Yordan Alvarez has also homered for Corpus. The solo shot now gives him 10 on the year. Randy César's hitting streak now stands at 40 games.
Not sure if this is the right place for this, but did the Astros ever say what was really wrong with him? They changed the official injury from "hit in the hand by a pitch" to "outfield collision" so what was it? Also, they did not put him on the DL until about 2 weeks after the injury. Sounds like they were hiding something? There's also been a lack of information on Bukauskas, how's he?
You've probably heard about Beer homering twice, but in other Tri-City position player performances, Enmanuel Valdez's last five hits have been doubles. Ramiro Rodriguez, who hit two doubles of his own last night, is 3-3 with a couple of RBI singles.
Patrick Sandoval vs. Beloit: 7 IP, 3 H, BB, 5 K His season line doesn't look like it includes an outing in which he allowed 10 runs... but it does
