So I watched the entirety of her press conference. NewRoxFan did you do the same? It doesn’t seem as if anyone is refuting anything she said and it seemed to be a pretty damning rebuttal of the hysteria thru straight forward, reasonable points. I hadn't seen anything like this under Trump and that's why I kept watching. It didn’t seem like there was some sort of effort to punish these kids and parents in order to deter people by the DHS based on how she laid things out. It makes me question if this was truly a policy of heavy handed, uncaring deterrence or if it was a policy that was a reaction to the statistics and court ruling she stated. Am I missing something? Are the statistics she quoted incorrect? Secondarily, there seemed to be a continual lack of understanding of how the branches of government work by the reporters. The legislative branch legislates the law. The executive branch executes the law. Yes there is discretion, but as she stated this policy was in effect under Obama and Bush but more enforced under Trump. She also bluntly stated why kids were separated and it was for the safety of the kid when there was no proof that the kid was related to the adult. What am I missing? Was everything a lie?
