A Republican Governor Actively Dis-associating From The Trump-sponsored Child Abuse Policy Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker has balked at sending National Guard troops to the US border in the wake of the Trump administration’s “inhumane treatment” of children. He said Monday that “we told the National Guard to hold steady and to not go down to the border — period,” “We won’t be supporting that initiative unless they stop the child-separation policy.” He pulled back troops because “the federal government’s current actions are resulting in the inhumane treatment of children,” said Lizzy Guyton, the governor’s communications director, in a statement. https://www.vox.com/2018/6/18/17475...publican-governor-massachusetts-charlie-baker
When this old law that is outraging everyone is fixed on trump's watch, I hope many of you will give him credit.
there is NO law that calls for child-separation. it is a lie spinned by the American Nazi, Stephen Miller, and parroted by Trump and his lackeys
Please show enough respect to your fellow posters to not repeat that lie. If you want to parrot that lie to the general public I'll understand, you want to promote the approved propaganda. Here though? It's insulting to pretend like we don't all know what's up.
The LAW is not trumps. The policy will go away soon enough as will the old LAW. Get over yourself. This board is 95% liberal and dont pretend that obama wasn't locking families up during his reign. Were you ok with the images in 2014?
1. If it is, at Fox and Friends (and only they) claim, an "old law" causing this, why did all previous administrations not separate families a la Nazi Germany? 2. Credit for fixing it? Dude. We should never give credit to someone who created a problem (see: S. Miller, the architect and advocate of this policy) and then decided to quit causing the problem. If he stops, right now, he still will have started it, and it was a terrible, counterproductive, and inhumane idea.
The problem was existing. It just morphed. Hopefully it is corrected soon. http://specials.myajc.com/family-detention-immigration/
So you think that because the Obama & Bush administrations chose not to enforce the law, the Trump administration should not enforce the law either? The Trump administration tried that, and month to month, the number of illegal crossings skyrocketed with ann ever-increasing amount of children being brought over, knowing that the catch & release loopholes give them a free pass. The law is the law. You commit a crime. You should be prosecuted. Just because previous administrations chose not to prosecute does not mean Trump is wrong to. You know who created the problem? The politicians on both sides of the aisle that have allowed our border to be completely porous. A wall and mandatory e-verify and this wouldn't even be an issue because these illegal scum wouldn't even be getting in.
Immediate amnesty is almost like open borders and will lead to children trafficking. I dont believe that is the answer. I also think the comparisons to nazi Germany are misplaced.
Bravo for him. That is the kind of stand I wish more had the fortitude to take. In this instance, he passed the moral gut check.
Yeah, only like 28% of the people approve of this, keep thinking it's just liberals when you now even have several republicans being against it. It's alright to break from king Trump every now and then. Also, Obama wasn't separating families. Pretty big difference there.
Yes, the porky skinny-jean wearing mother standing beside the child, a person who made the conscious decision to disregard the sovereignty of my country, and to endanger her offspring in the process, is illegal scum. 100%. You can't just do whatever the **** you want with no repercussions.
You are a disgusting human being. Seriously. Everyone knows you are an imbecile. Now we know you are beyond contempt.
