I have no idea why I post such a subject Maybe I suppose we need been known BY you. OF course ,the pics are just a part of china.
Is that coal? Interesting photos, but what's your agenda with 3 depressing photos of China? Are you implying that this is the norm?
Not that I don't appreciate the origingal poster's posts that there ARE people like these in China even as we speak. But my question is what is the purpose of your post? If someone else posts some picture of today's Beijing or Shanghai and you'll believe that China is, all of sudden, as rich as if not richer than the USA? Give me a break.
You can look into many countries and see much worse schooling, India, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Bosnia, Sudan, Somalia.... etc etc.
First of all , I just want to say that my english is poor, and since learning English, I hated to learn it. So I feel happy If you point out anything wrong. Ye ,this is coal. He lived on carring the coal by his shoulders. And with the big basket, he climbed along the coalpit by 100 meters, then 1000 meters along the hillroad, and he can earn RMB 1 yuan(RMB 1 yuan~$ 0.13) Ye,Of course ,as you said ,it is just slice of life . we are making progress. And we have some highlights. But we still have more thing to do. My purpose,?? what do you think is my purpose? As I said above, I think we need knowing . Can you tell me how much it will take a man from grade school to the high school and then to college?I mean personal payment. BTW,can anyone tell me some famous and useful BBS ? China_human
China is a bipolar country right now. The disparities between the rich and the poor, educated and uneducated, urban and rural, west(inland and poorer) and east(costal and richer) are raising more and more concerns in society and government. The pics are snapshots of life in the severely underdeveloped areas in China. Comparing them to the life in the cities(not just Beijing and Shanghai but also hundreds of others) and those more developed villages and towns will show drastic differences. How many areas in China are like this I don't know, but they can't be left behind. They need the development of China's economy, more funds and better policies to drag them out of the vicious cycle of poverty. China-human is right, China still has a long way to go.
Something you don't know? IS my understanding right? The pics below are In Shanghai's. Sorry, because I am going to take a final test later,I just take little effort to satisfy your need.
What do you know? Just like in the US and all other developed countries, there are extremely poor people and there are people who are pretty well-off in China. I never would have imagined that was possible!!
Still, you don't see school's like that in rural Oklahoma. The disparity is unreal, and its just about broadening your prospective on what little you may know about Yao Ming's homeland. I guess that's what you get from a communist country with capitalistic intentions.
thanks for your effort. my point is there are too much negative reports regarding China floating around not enough positive. although some of them are true most of them just biased because people just see what they want to see. people like you. you titled this thread as "part of China" and put up those horrible pictures and wrote "Maybe I suppose we need been known BY you". known what? there are poor people in China? are you kidding me! it, as usual creats two kinds of reponses. for people who know China well or objective enough they'll question your intention starting this thread. for those who don't know China at all or hate everything communist related ... you know what they'll say. everyone knows that China is a developing country. although sad to see those pics i wasn't surprised. if i wanted to show part of China i would put up the ones from Shanghai as well, add some ordinary city folks' pics while we are at it.
You can certainly post the PRC in a more positive light if you choose to. No need to be so negative toward this person's post. qrui, i don't think one of your other questions was answered earlier. most public school systems, from grade school through high school, do not require a personal payment.
The schools on the Indian reservations around the country admittadely aren't that bad but they do have major isssues.
