http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/23803570/kawhi-leonard-wants-san-antonio-spurs All-Star forward Kawhi Leonard wants out of San Antonio, league sources told ESPN. Leonard, according to sources, has grown frustrated with how the organization handled his quad injury and feels the franchise turned on him once he sought a second opinion. Leonard has Los Angeles -- preferably the Lakers -- at the center of his preferences for a trade destination, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. A source with the Spurs told ESPN that Leonard hasn't asked them for a trade. If Leonard does become available in trade talks, the Boston Celtics will be interested in probing the Spurs about a deal, league sources told Wojnarowski. Boston inquired about a trade prior to the February deadline, sources said. Leonard is eligible to receive a five-year, $219 million contract extension from the Spurs this summer. He can opt out of his current deal after next season and become a free agent in July 2019. There's a feeling of betrayal that, at this juncture, appears irreparable; Leonard isn't concerned about missing out on the supermax, sources said. Leonard has communicated with Spurs coach Gregg Popovich in recent days, sources say, but the two have yet to speak in person. Popovich has been out of town all week attending to family business, sources told ESPN's Michael C. Wright. But he and Leonard have reached out to each other on numerous occasions in recent weeks. Leonard has been training in San Diego the past month, with a source telling ESPN's Ramona Shelburne that he's making "great progress " in his return from the quad injury that forced him to miss all but nine games last season. https://sports.yahoo.com/sources-kawhi-leonard-no-longer-wants-spur-172456545.html San Antonio Spurs star Kawhi Leonard wants a trade from the franchise, league sources told Yahoo Sports. Leonard has become uncomfortable with any future with the Spurs — because of overall mistrust stemming from the organization’s handling of his quadriceps injury during the past year — and is prepared to move on immediately, league sources said. Leonard, a two-time All-Star and two-time Defensive Player of the Year who was the 2013-14 NBA Finals MVP, played just just nine games with the Spurs this past season after acrimony with the franchise about the condition of his lingering quadriceps injury. The Spurs’ front office and Leonard’s representatives have been in communication since the season ended, and Leonard has been in contact with coach Gregg Popovich, league sources said. Leonard spent most of the second half of the season rehabbing his injury in New York, where his medical team was based and where he trained with Spurs staffers. He has returned close to full health from the lingering quad injury. Leonard attended the private memorial service for Popovich’s late wife, Erin, in San Antonio after the season ended, and he interacted with team officials. Leonard, 26, is under contract for two more seasons and owed $41.4 million, but has a player option for 2019-20.
RedNationBlogga seems the most legit, and that tweet also mentions DJ in Houston right now. We need some on the ground information, these are shaky (although seemingly not piggybacking off one another)
What I like about Ingram is he's 3 years younger, and has the better upside as a potential #1 guy ... which means even if he doesn't quite get there, then its a #2 or #3 that can create. I don't think we'll see enormous additional growth from Saric. His per 36 numbers were basically the same year 2 as year 1. He was just a better three point shooter. Ingram improved across the board on a per 36 basis in year 2. And he won't be 21 until September.
If LeBron is going to head for LA, to relocate his family to the place where his business empire is already headquartered and where he could be seen as the savior of a fallen franchise, then he needs the kind of superstar help that would justify this kind of move. It’s unclear if Paul George will be that guy, as the fellow free-agent-to-be has been sending all sorts of signals that he might re-sign with the Oklahoma City Thunder. James’ best friend, Chris Paul, is also set to be a free agent, but he is widely expected to remain with James Harden in Houston while trying to convince James to come their way. But the Lakers landing Leonard, who grew up outside of Los Angeles in Moreno Valley, Calif., attended San Diego State and has long been known to be intrigued with the idea of playing for his hometown team, is their best chance yet at making their situation all the more appealing. Then again, maybe it's the "other" Los Angeles team that winds up trading for Leonard. As USA TODAY Sports reported in mid-April, the Clippers have been hoping for this very moment to arrive and are expected to make a hard push to land Leonard. They have the No. 12 and No. 13 picks in Thursday's draft, and could put together the kind of package that allows the Spurs to infuse their roster with a combination of high-end prospects and veterans. The Boston Celtics are also expected to make a strong push. Leonard, the 26-year-old who will be a free agent in the summer of 2019, has the kind of hoops gravitas required to compel James to head for the Lakers. The only question now is whether or not Leonard can get there first.
I can confirm that one person I know did drive over to Kinkaid to try to verify this rumor and nothing was going on at the school. However, the news was over an hour old by the time this was done.
Sixers probably interested Celtics confirmed interested Clippers confirmed interested Kings confirmed interested Knicks? but but but they have to trade him to the Lakers!
Yeah, I get that. And he plays next to Embiid. But that's kind of my point. If you aren't going to get "power", and he's not amazing defensively or anything, then his strength is he stretches the floor. Which is great, just does that give him more upside than a guy 3.5 years younger who can eventually slide in at PF at times himself, that already scores more, shoots similar 3 point % (though less volume), and is a better ballhandler and creator?
