Have to agree with this. With the US and its great allies Saudi Arabia and Israel threatening to nuke or invade Iran all the time, they might even decide to expedite their nuke program.

Commissar Putin is Iran's biggest backer. He's not going to let Trump push around Iran, maybe putin will allow a couple of mean girl tweets but that's it. You get in bed with Putin, you will have to eventually choose him.
State tv in the motherland boasts about having Trump in a mocking way to Trump and the u.s.a. you don't see the motherland mocking the rest of the comrades: china, spain, Argentina, venezuela, nicaragua, brasil, el Salvador, cuba and soon to be Mexico. The people and politicians that follow Trump blindly are way in over their heads as to what is going on. [IMG]

Good article showing how Democrats though not supporting Trump should root for the Korea talks. Ro Khanna and some of the more progressive Dems disagree with Schumer type Dems who try to hinder the process.

An excerpt: On Monday, as US and North Korea officials prepared for the summit, Khanna was one of 15 progressive Democratic members of the House who signed a letter to President Trump that hailed the embrace of diplomacy and said: “We remain concerned that some, from both parties and inside and outside of your administration, seek to scuttle progress by attempting to limit the parameters of the talks, including by insisting on full and immediate denuclearization or other unrealistic commitments by North Korea at an early date.”

North Korea signed a document literally saying 'a commitment to the complete denuclearization of the Korean peninsula'

Trump was then verbally asked if he discussed ways to verify that denuclearization with NK

Trump replied 'Yes, and it will be verified'

He was asked how it will be achieved

Trump replied 'By having a lot of our people there' and building upon an ongoing trust developing relationship.

Today was stage one, but if North Korea has agreed to plans to make concessions of having Americans monitor and verify denuclearization that is huge.

He said they talked about it and went on to say it will be verified and Americans (along with other international members) will be part of the people in North Korea to verify deculearization.

Until then North Korea is STILL cut off financially with sanctions. This was a historic meeting.

Sometimes you have to man up and make the first move.

If it bites him in the ass, he can order his troops to relocate from Japan to North Korea in a matter of hours.

Its not like Trump is really conceding anything either.

Well said. People should just call it what it is. A step forward, which is better than standing in mud or taking a step back.

Trump has decided to not give up on a beaten dog. He is playing the slow game and it is quite frankly the only way to make progress.

The whole "don't legitimize them" argument holds no water when you see what that policy has gotten us so far, a nuclear North Korea.

"Don't legitimize them" is a lame excuse for being too scared to risk political failure for whoever uses it

Trump hasn't lifted the sanctions he imposed. He only took the meeting under the idea that NK will be committed to working towards verifiable denuclearization, and we are seeing it play out. The fact NK is willing to participate in discussions leading to Americans on their soil and to full decularization is enormous.

What happened to all the liberal 'experts' saying Trump is going to cause war? and while he needs to do diplomacy he is going about diplomacy wrong because it wont bring anyone to the table, instead it will divide further and lead to causalities blah blah blah

At the moment, Trump and Kim both got photo ops. Kim's was more valuable.
    US stops war games. Win-win?
If it's a contest, Kim gained more, but I do hope we can pull out of S. Korea.
Not a victory for us, but good for us. Let's get out of S Korea!

Weird how a tougher approach has brought Rocket man to the table and now the exact opposite has happened. Strange that different things happen when you take different approaches.

We got nothing from "Rocket Man."
"Rocket Man" not only came out ahead, now he gets a meeting with Putin too, because of this! Double Happiness for the Supreme Leader.

    N. Korea has wanted to go to the table for decades. The difference here is that Trump agreed to go to the table with Kim. I'm not saying that's a bad thing or a good thing. It's just that there was never a challenge getting Kim to the table.

The part of Trump's approach that was different was being willing to meet with Kim. I have hope that it will work out. I don't really have much confidence that it will, but I'm willing to give it a shot and see what happens.

Trump has called off the silly, expensive War Games, said he intends to bring home our troops that secure the peninsula, China is calling for the end of the sanctions regime, etc. and all Kim has done is pledge to denuclearize with no verification method locked in yet.

I'm happy for peace if that's the outcome, but some of you slurping down Trump's orange juice need to slow down.

Seriously, Obama was crucified by JOHN BOLTON of all people for even suggesting he would meet with Kim.

Kim and his father were always willing to take the meeting. They never thought for a minute though that the American president would be openly talking about removing all troops from South Korea. It's truly astonishing to me that REPUBLICANS are standing behind the idea of pulling troops from Korea, Japan and Germany. What happened to peace through strength? Extending our defensive perimeter? Securing our allies, etc.?

Yes, it's crazy. Of all the places we have troops S. Korea would also be one of the last places from which they should be pulled.

Trump said they are hammering out the finer details of the dunuclearization and verification process still, however so far NK has agreed to allow Americans and international members on their soil to verify as part of it. I don't understand how that isn't huge to you or anyone else.

NK agreed to that? I don't see that in writing so I'd love to see it. What I saw was very vague language.
