Uh oh, neither the South Koreans nor our military knew this was going to be offered?

So yeah that happened. I’m a liberal so of course I prefer talking to bombing. I just hope that people realize that this isn’t an actual treaty or a deal of any sort. Just a photo opp that both sides think they can use for political gain their respective countries to hold onto power. Especially Kim Jung who apparently just this week, is going through another military official purge.

One point- no way in hell the US will stop doing military exercises. I think Trump will ask to tamp down till after the mid terms but there’s just no way in hell we will not keep our military sharp out there if they are there, and we shouldn’t pull our troops out anytime soon as well. That would be incredibly stupid and put two key allies (Australia and Japan) in peril.

At the first sign of a military exercise, Kim Jung will have to again show his country that he’s in control and here we go again.

One thing I’m hopeful of though is that I believe unlike his father, Kim Jung Un is seduced by western culture and the idea of opening up his country and himself being able to visit the world. It’s incredibly typical that Trump talking condos and hotels but if that’s what sell Kim to try to open up NK to the world, I’m okay with that. For once Trumps talents of cutting shady hotel deals with the worse criminal shady government leaders is put to use.

I just want everyone to remember that just about a year ago the same Kim Jung Un murdered his own brother in an airport using a nerve agent. He did that because he thought his own life was in danger because he’s that paranoid about being overthrown. This is not someone whose world we believe can be changed overnight and someone like Mike Pomeo and John Bolton should understand quite well.

Which again leads me to say unequivocally that last night was just a poltical photo opp, but there’s reason to be happy we got that for the time being instead of the alternative.

Can't get along with the leaders of the world's greatest peaceful countries, but gets along extremely well with a totalitarian dictator that feeds his uncle to starving dogs and blows people up publicly with anti aircraft missles.

    That's our president...

Anyone else get the feeling he's getting played?

That video showing Fox News talking heads doing a 180 was pure gold. I think it reflect most of trump supporters.

He is a willing participant. It’s a fake summit for a photo op. What he signed was nothing new and the words he used to describe it tell me he is bs-ing for his fans. But hey, as long as they keep taking to each other’s, they won’t kill each other’s and that’s a good thing.

The president just said that he was pursuing a political alliance based off financial gain?

    What a surprise!

Of course not and the clip you posted is all thousands of people will see and make a bad judgement off of it. The entire video is here:

I think it's best to hold off on things like this until more information comes out. I was watching CNN yesterday and Cuomo was blasting Trump saying "they don't even have any political advisors in the meeting!". Then after 30 minutes when Trump and Kim came out, Cuomo says "it was only 30 minutes!". Not even an hour later, Trump and Kim are sitting in a longer meeting....WITH THEIR POLITICAL ADVISORS!

In reality, this thing has been going on for months and things were already rolling before this meeting. It's interesting to see people try their hardest to spin this as a negative.

I don’t think he cares. He likely sees this as just a play to buy time politically. It had to happen this Summer for the mid terms. He’s not thinking nor does he care about beyond that. He admitted as much in his press conference.

The attacks on Mueller, talk of pardoning himself, and this photo opp short term diplomacy just screams of Trump being desperate.

That being said, I think there’s a chance it might actually be a first step in a weird kind of way of accidental peace in the region. Two bumbling desperate idiot world leaders just happen to stumble into a global shift in diplomacy over nothing more than self serving poltical campaigning.

That is quite the stretch there. This is the first photo op, but these deals/compromises have been going on for months clearly. Kim could have easily not shown up, nor does he need any kind of photo op for his people. Iran is next because those sanctions are tearing that country's population apart.

I didn’t watch CNN last night, but I highly doubt that even Cuomo (who I find kinda annoying) commented on it exactly like that.

It was scheduled this way to have a one on one and then have a meeting with both teams and then a working lunch. All Cuomo had to do was look at the damn schedule.

But I think what you are commenting on is the fact that Kim Jung and Trump had the 1 on 1 with nobody in the room which is actually highly unprecedented and risky. Trump fell into the same trap with his first meeting as president with Putin where they came out with conflicting statements. Only this time the stakes were much higher.

Still I understand the gesture of showing Kim Jung Un the trust of confidentiality as a sign of goodwill. It’s unprecedented but that’s just who Trump is. He knows everyone knows him and Kim Jung are liars anyways, so I might as well show him the goodwill.

Not the end of the world.

I don’t see people trying to spin this negative though like you may think. Yes... this is positive right now, and could end up oddly enough being a start to reshaping global order. But dude.... let’s get back to reality for a second. This is Kim Jung Un... we all should be vomiting at the sight of the American flag touching the North Korean flag. The best we should be saying is that we debased the honor and integrity of America for the hope of a greater good. Yesterday was a ugly day for the United States of America, but hopefully it serves a greater good.

I will admit I wish trump would've shoved that fat ass starting a tussle. And both security details would have been yelling "one on one" and letting them go like on the YouTube hood fight videos.

No...it sounds like delusional Trump desperation to get a deal. You ignored what is difference with Iran? Tangible results there....vs. vague promises.

The problem is Trump is desperate to get something done. He is a weak negotiator despite boasting otherwise (his book co-writer and others have said). He hates confrontations and has others do firings. He is weak.

You are an extremely negative person. Why don’t you focus on the best attempt the US has put forth to become peaceful with North Korea. Yet, you are here scratching and clawing at every little thing to turn this in to a negative. It’s sad.

Folks, re: denuclearization, this is how it's worded in the agreement:

"3. ... the DPRK commits to work towards complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula."

    and not this:

"3. ... the DPRK commits to complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula."

They talking about this is much better than talking about their buttons, I guess.

Um this isn't new. He gets along well with Duterte, Putin, Kim. Listen to what he said about how he knew he could trust Kim. Something like "Well he told me I'm the only president who could pull this off." Lol flattery AGAIN.

The Western World stuff is boring for him. Talking to democratic leaders who have to adhere to norms and work to preserve freedom and peace. He hates that crap. He loves dictators because they get to rule the way he wants to rule.
