WE should send to Cleveland A resigned Clint Capella, Anderson and our first available first round pick. We get back James Lebron and Thompson. We would keep Gordon for another trade. sending him with Nene and a second pick. We would of course keep P.J.Tucker. We should try to move Zhou Qi,, Black, Onuahue and Brown. Lue Mbah let him go. This was suggested to my from a China friend.Y
My man, there's a reason not many have suggested this.... Capela is more valuable, even on a big deal, than Gordon or whatever picks it would take to move Anderson and compensate the Cavs for facilitating the opt in and trade. He is the perfect center for both our offense and our defense.
I was kind of thinking the same about doing a sign and trade with Capela. Any chance we could get a sizeable trade exemption in return? Honestly dont know how trade exemptions work. Send picks and maybe Eric Gordon with the trade exemption to Cleveland? Then we pick up Deandre Jordan at a really reasonable price? Then we stretch Ryan Anderson’s contract? I would imagine we will have veterans kicking the door down for the vet min or MLE.
Its remotely possible …. with the main issue being Clint agreeing to go to Cleveland. If I were Clint , I'd say hell no. This is a silly proposal …
I believe if he agrees to going to Cleveland then it is possible. No way Clint agrees and I don’t see Morey doing that either. He wants Clint with the potential big 3.
I'm not sure i understand yalls idea to bypass the rules. You want us to make a trade with Cleveland with an under the table hand shake that Capela will agree to sign with them and we won't match? They can't afford him. They're way over the cap even if they traded away opted in LeBron and another bad contract. We can't sign and trade him until 6 months post signing like mentioned. What exactly are you talking about is possible?
The resigned RFA can decline any trade in the first year. He CAN technically be traded immediately but he must agree to the destination. If this wasn't the case , you wouldn't have S&T deals at all. If I were Clint , I wouldn't agree to a trade to Cleveland to join a lottery bound team ….
Can you package players in a S&T under the new CBA? I thought it was prohibitive for teams over the cap?
Your idea is bad. I would prefer love instead of Thompson anyday but doesn't mean I want either. Trade Lebron for Ryno and throw in picks and EG. Cavs either get nothing in return from Lebron walk or something of value where they can trade with other teams.
it's not allowed PERIOD at least not with RFA. Capela can't be part of any trade after being matched for a YEAR unless Clint approves it.
This doesn't work for a couple of reasons. 1) Cleveland would not be allowed to receive a sign and trade player since they would be over the apron at the conclusion of the deal . So it doesn't work on Cleveland's end. 2) I'm assuming that in your scenario that Capela's new deal is near a max. Since he would be receiving a raise of over 20% of his prior contract then he's a Base Year Compensation (BYC) player. His salary would count $12.5M for the purpose of our outgoing in a trade. From CLEs perspective he would count the full $25M (assuming a max deal). So, in your hypothetical, Houston is sending out $12.5M + $20M = $32.5M and receiving $35M + $17M = $52m. The incoming salaries for Houston are more than 125% of the outgoing salaries so the deal isn't legal from Houston's end either.
not many have suggested but you have already. no need for 2 thread on this exact scenario which won't happen
