Sounds like he's basically Bielak with a better spring. Which is cool and all, but they were able to get Bielak in the 11th.

Pretty GF. Looks like he punches above his weight. Solid pick.

Deason could become a barber if this baseball thing doesn't pan out

RJ Freure, 92-95mph out of the pen with a plus curveball. Projects as a multi inning reliever. Needs to improve command.

Wait, so the Astros drafted a guy who can touch the mid 90s with a good curve?

Yes but they're all high schoolers who will likely go to college

Totally bummed they haven’t drafted a catcher yet.

Maybe they think Nathan Perry is the guy in TC?

They didn't take Papierski until the 8th last year, so it's not that unprecedented.

Would be great if Perry was ready to be the everyday C for them but he didn’t catch very many games in the GCL last season so I am guessing he will repeat there.

Salazar, who was born in Mexico but raised in Tucson, was a 1st-team All-Pac-12 selection this season.

He threw out 17 of 29 would-be base stealers in 2018.

Strong words from his college coach:

Said Johnson of Salazar: “He’s my favorite player I’ve ever coached. I mean it’s almost hard to talk about. There’s not a better human being on the planet than him. ... The playing thing is great. He’s one of the best catchers in the country and I can’t say enough.”

For me after Larnach was gone, Beer was basically the best college hitter available. I think he'll sign a bit under slot so we could sign Schroeder above slot. This is what I was expecting when you have the second least money in the draft pool.
