Chris Paul has an injury risk, but he is still one of the very best players in the NBA who contributed a great deal to the wins against the Warriors. If there is an attainable player who has the same level of impact and a lower level of injury risk, then by all means sign him. But such a player does not exist in the actual free agent market.
Not Bima so likely faultie here but here's my take. 1) shed Anderson's contract (and Nene's too), freeing up $23 mil - I remember hearing 2 firsts http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/...paul-james-harden-running-houston-rockets-nba 2) lock up Capela - $18 to $25MM 3) resign Chris Paul - $20MM with a massive pay cut to what $30MM+? 4) bring back Ariza on a hometown discount - $4MM per? 5) fill in gaps with great role-players like this past off-season - deal? or 1) shed Anderson's contract (and Nene's too), freeing up $23 mil - 2 1sts again 2) go after Lebron - $80MM under contract, $60MM without Anderson, so $30 MM between Paul (cap hold on books until he signs I believe) and Lebron (Capela's cap hold is small next year until he signs) 3) resign Chris Paul - see above 4) fill in gaps with great role-payers like this past off-season - deal? or 1) shed Anderson's contract (and Nene's too), freeing up $23 mil 2 1sts again 2) go after Cousins - $80MM under contract, $60MM without Anderson, so $30 MM between Paul and Boogie 3) resign Chris Paul 4) fill in gaps with great role-payers like this past off-season - deal?
Not sure Anderson's contract matters that much. Do the Rockets have the ability to add an LeBron level salary even without his salary on the books? Is such a player willing to sign?
Remain cp3 harden capela tucker. Other players we can buy out and ask leborn, AD, kawaii cousins PG to join.
Because he’s the Rockets leader, best ball handler and playmaker. Oh, he also is a good defender. Those types of players don’t grow on trees.
Buy outs still stays on the cap. Just save teh organization money. THose guys aren't coming for the min.
Off Season Throw Ryan Anderson off a bridge. Trade Gordon Talk to Lebron, if he says make it work................. Drop Capela. SIgn DeAndre on a 2 year deal.
Clint is a one sided defensive player who happens to be a very good shot blocker. He lacks all star potential.
LBJ is priority. Despite his age, he is a beast and is more than capable of giving us a couple years.
It's crazy just how toxic Ryno's contract has become. A GM can do everything right and one bad contract can ruin everything. SMH
Yeah P.J. Only played 32 minutes a night in the playoffs...where we had 2 series’ where we could play more guys because the teams we faced, were not nearly as good as us. Morey doesn’t care about them. He cares about beating GOLDEN STATE. The team tucker averaged 38 MINUTES against. He played more in game 7 than anyone else, i just dont see that being the case for much longer and it would be risky doing the same thing next year. This can be said for ariza too. There is a reason we missed that many 3’s in a row in Game 7. A 7 man rotation has its cons.
not too mention, P.J uses a ton of energy, have you not seen that mans heart and will to go after rebounds and hustle? My lord, miss me with that “he doesnt use much”
Because GSW as a team dictates PJ has to play that much. He still got the rest in the first two rounds, which helped average the 32 mins. So he got some rest and played less than your feared PT mins. But you’re assuming that every team in the nba will require 38 mins of PJ. That’s just not true. He will only play that against likely the best teams, which only amounts to 5 really good teams in the entire NBA. Those 4 being CLE, GSW, us, TOR (if they don’t blow it up), and BOS. Also, PJ wasn’t the reason we missed that many threes. That was a number of our players. So that arg has no bearing on PJs minutes situation and your fears. Btw, PJ still hit 2/5 from three land - a better percentage than any other Rocket. He also was 5/9 from the field overall. So you’re right in that he played a lot, but it didn’t tire his legs out. Bc again, he got the rest in rounds 1 and 2.
Outside of swinging some big deal for Lebron, George, Cousins etc 1. Getting CP3 on a flat or declining deal is important, if not a shorter deal. Paul probably has one decent season left in him (hopefully) before he really starts to slow down. Locking him up on a 5-year full max would likely be devastating for the franchise. Have to try as hard as possible to get him on a declining max, if not potentially a 2 or 3-year deal.\ 2. Handle Capela properly. If we can get him below or at 20 mill per season on average, I say match him, if someone throws a max at him look for S&T options with a cheaper big (DAJ/Noel) coming back. 3. Bring back Ariza/Moute Those dudes ending the year on bad notes was likely a positive, hopefully we can get Luc on a vet min again, Ariza on a 10 mill or under deal. 4. Dump Ryno If we can. 5. Fill in the gaps Bring Green back? Brandon Wright? A backup C or PG could help, our MLE could net us a nice player.
