Greg Davis: Fired. Carl Reese: Retired. Duane Akina: Fired. Hardy McCrary: Fired Also rumors about Chris Peterson from Boise State and Jerry Gray from Buffalo Bills. If any of this really happens, it's very encouraging.
If any of this happens, it will be very encouraging. If none of this happens, UT's Athletic Director should be strung up by the short -n- curlies.
Well I've been looking around and there is some SERIOUS credibility behind them. Register for a free trial with InsideTexas and Orangebloods and you'll see.
Awesume. But it all won't matter unless the new guys are actually allowed to make the key decisions between the last week of August and the 1st week of January and render, in practice, Mack Brown as the highest paid recruting coordinator in the land. Nonetheless, it is encouraging.
Anyone catch John McClain's comments on that very topic this morning on 610? He basically said that he never would have thought Spurrier would consider moving to the Big 12 and facing his best friend Stoops (whom he talks on the phone at least 2 time a week) twice a year. But he heard from a good source that UT had Spurriers attention. Ofcourse this is all contingent on Mack having a poor showing next season, and even if he does Spurrier is not a sure thing. NC, Alabama, and UK would all have his ear and chance to stroke his massive ego. But UT would not be outbid and would have on helluva strong pitch to make.
Mack Brown could be resigning tonight according to orangebloods..... : Although this doesn't really excite me, I have heard from two seperate reliable sources that Mack met with the president of the University, Larry Faulkner, two days ago for forty five minutes. All of the coaches will meet with Dodds and Faulkner tonight and Brown is expected to resign. His reasoning is that he just can't deal with so many people second-guessing everything he does. Now, I want to make sure everyone understands that this is just a rumor that I have heard, but the two people I heard it from are very close to the program and are almost always right when it comes to UT football. If you think about it, it really makes sense. The guy looked so beaten down with life on the sideline during the Holliday Bowl. Mack also seems like he has no confidence in himself or control over his team. (i.e. Vince Young on excercise bike with obvious scowl.) If tonight does mark the end of the Mack Brown era, I want to say thanks. He has raised UT football to a new level and made us a strong program.
agreed....UT fans seem to overstate how good UT football is. it had done basically nothing with consistency for the past quarter century. there had been some good spots, but nothing that lasted very long. mack brown had finally established some sort of consistency here at UT. i know he's not a great coach, but at least he got most of the wins he should have got and made UT football into something that should be respected based on winning and not on something that it had done decades ago.
Mack Brown resigning? I'll believe it when I see it...but if it is true, yer bud RMT will be seriously tying one on this evening! Spurrier as coach of UT? God help us! NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
Did anyone hear the "interview" with Mack Brown On A Mobile this morning? I was laughing so hard I missed my exit! Go to their website and click on Audio Vault.
The interview was rebroadcast from last week. I was at the gym and fell off my piece of cardio equipment from laughter when the idiot caller called in to complain about "Mack Brown" thinking blitzing wasn't allowed in college bowl games.
My best friend is the caller who prompted Lance to do that. Have you ever heard Lance's "You're not a good Longhorn fan" routine.
When he came up with the PS2 excuse and the "who got to use Micheal Vick" argument that Benson and Sloan were having on the field, I about choked. Way too funny.
It doesn't help when you get beat by Arkansas (and OK) while Oklahoma and LSU play for the National Championship. Of it's 4 neighbors, Texas can only say it had a better season than New Mexico.
"You can't put a point spread on character, otherwise, we'd be a 4 touchdown favorite every game" For what it's worth, Charlie and Rich mentioned the rumor in the opening of their show. They think the AD is trying to force Mack to fire his assistants and Mack would rather resign than do that. Still just rumors, but where there's smoke, there's usually fire...
I heard somewhere that 1300AM had said there was a press conference scheduled for tonight? Could be for this, though (another rumor): ... http://www.nfldraftblitz.com On the right sidebar: - Texas' talented twosome of OLB Derrick Johnson and RB Cedric Benson will both enter the NFL draft.
Im listening right now. lmao. this cant be mack brown. has to be an impostor heres some quotes: "we let america down" " i thought blitzes were not allowed in the bowl" "If steve spurrier comes over here ill punch him in his face" "Chance Mock has a club foot" Theres no freaking way that was really Mack Brown.
