OK, show me. Oops, it's DM the GM - - so he could. If he chose to. Which he won't. So, DM the GM: just Fo It!
I wish this thread title said “Rockets high on Paul George’s FA wish list” and had an article with info from sauces
How would we possibly acquire him? Not through sign-and-trade. Not through cap space. Not through the MLE. Soooooo...........
Same way as Paul I assume. Beg him to opt-in, then send out Ryno, EGo, Picks, and HJs and hope that OKC also buys into that?
First post here. Been following the rockets since harden was traded from OKC. *I live in okc and he was the only player I enjoyed watching on those old teams. But idk if the clips would do this deal but what about somehow convincing capela to sign and trade at the max with DJ taking a hometown discount around 18-20 mil. Throw in Gallinari to match Paul George’s opt in salary and send him to Okc. You can then send Capela and Ryno to the Clips (or another team) with PG coming to Houston along with DJ. Not sure how many picks it would take or if any of the other sides would have any interest. I’m just merely matching salaries. Keep it up tho. Love coming here during this time of the year.
These articles are all great.... but if there is any validity to it, George would have to let the Rockets (through Paul of Harden) know in the next 3 weeks. Paul George’s word isn’t worth a lot based on history.
Same way they acquired Chris Paul, and the same way they'd acquire LeBron. By convincing him to opt in, and then giving him his max payday the following summer. I don't know why the George scenario is dismissed so easily. It's actually more realistic to me than LeBron, because you don't have to find a taker for Ryan Anderson to make it work. Eric Gordon + Nene works under the cap... and the Thunder with Westbrook in his prime and signed to a 5-year max deal aren't looking to rebuild. Gordon is a better scenario for them than seeing George walk to LA for zero compensation. Also, while Cleveland might not be that keen on Gordon since they'd likely be a total rebuild if LeBron leaves... that's not the case in OKC. Gordon fits there, IMO. You have to convince George to say yes, but for a guy who nicknamed himself "Playoff P," I don't see why it's so unfathomable to think that he'd want the best competitive situation -- and perhaps the only one where he could win a ring. He's 28 years old, not like his prime is indefinite. All things equal, I think he'd love to go with another true max player (i.e. LeBron) with the Lakers... but if LeBron doesn't want that, and there's no legit superstar for that second max slot? A Laker team with its current youth + PG isn't a contender. Maybe he'd still go anyway, but I think it's far from a foregone conclusion. (And before anyone says he could wait for Kawhi or someone in 2019, he'd still have that potential path if he opted in and went somewhere else for the final year of his existing deal.)
