As we all know Jay Williams broke the rules to his contract and wrode on a motor cycle. The bulls are paying him this year, but next year he will be waived from the team. Or whatever the deal is, im not really sure. He's gonna be a free agent next season. Most people probably think he won't play basketball at the level of basketball he was playing when he was at duke. I mean, he didn't even shine his rookie season in the NBA. Is he does well with his rehabilitation, and makes a comeback I think he would be a perfect backup to stevie. There's alot of possibilities with that. I just want to know the opinions of my fellow posters.

Got to wait and see how much he recovers before that even becomes a thought. There is just no way to tell how, or if, he will be even able to step onto a court again. He did have some flashes of brilliance his roookie year (even had a triple-double if I'm not mistaken) but would still have a long way to go.

If healthy at some point, you better believe CD would at least give him a look.

I think that he is lucky enough if he can walk well again.
From the news, the injury was so severe that at one point, they considered amputation.
I seriously doubt that he will be able to play again.
i do not think that the rocket should take the risk with him.

He needs to learn walking first again.

The Kings showed patience with Bobby Hurley after a car accident essentially ended his career. 'course, Hurley wasn't as athletic, talented, or as physically strong as Williams, but there are some parallels (Duke, point guard, high draft pick, vehicle accident). I even vaguely recall there may have been some questions about Hurley's responsibility in the injuries he suffered (long time ago, but it seemed he wasn't wearing a seatbelt perhaps?).

Hurley made a gallant effort to rehab and even played in the NBA but he wasn't anywhere close to being a NBA-caliber player.

Hopefully Williams makes it back (as a motorcyclist, I am following this story from that perspective as well).

It's way too soon to be talking about the Rockets picking him up.

From an ESPN sport short broadcast about a month featuring Hurley and Williams.....

Williams is rehabing at Duke. 98% of the board currently has more strength in their left leg than Williams. As was stated, he's lucky enough to walk. Forget about it.

Even if we assume that JWill will ever walk again, there's still that little problem of 29 other teams in the NBA (including the Bulls and Bobcats) bidding for his services. Hell, a come back player signed for 1 yr minimum, why not? He's not coming to Houston either way.

He was a great player at duke. You have to feel sorry for the guy he just had some bad luck. I wish we could get him as a back up. I heard on Espn that he is working hard to get back but who knows.

It feels great. And I was worried that the fans would force Les to pick him over Yao. Other than the Ocassional YOF looks like we got the better pick eh ;). Makes you forget all about Eddie :p
