I was wondering if you could answer a couple questions I had.:) I'm thinking now that I want to become a football coach one day. I absolutely love the game, and can't imagine being away from it. What would you major in for that? Would you just have a major in Sports Management or something and minor in the field you wish to teach? Also, what colleges have good programs for future programs.

    Thanks, I appreciate it.:)

I couldn't tell you for sure, but definitely going into a college of education somewhere and asking a counselor/advisor would prolly be a good idea.

I think a lot of people major in kinesiology, but I am not sure at all - I've taken a few kin classes, but my major is bio. Maybe they go for the cert in a certain subject and then just get the coaching position some other way....

Major in ESS (excercise and sports sciences) than pick up a minor along the way so you can teach something at your school

Or you can just major in some field like biology, math, chemistry, history, english, etc and minor in education with an emphasis on coaching.

That's the best way to go. Most junior high/high school coaches teach history, but a prospective coach with a math major would really set himself apart.

    Good luck!

Technically you should major in Kineisiology(PE). It is generally included as its own department but it also falls under the guidance of Education. You'll have to take classes in both subject areas and usually you will have a second area (history, biology, etc.) that you get certified in. If yo are good in math I reccommend getting a second certifiaction in that. A lot of schools are short on math teachers and sometimes give bonuses to people certified to teach math.

NYU has a sports/business management major of sorts. I'm not really gamiliar with it, but I'll check it out if I go there. Same with UGA.

I'm interested in sports management or something to that degree. Maybe even a dirty agent.

Either that or I've always been interested in stadiums and arenas. Anyone know anybody at HOK?

That's awesome Mooch! I've been looking at NYU. I still have to make up my mind whether I want to stay up here in NY and go to college or if I want to go back down to Texas for college.

Anyone know if the University of Houston has a sports management program. That's something I would be very interested in....

    Thanks for the help everyone.:)

Well those are my top two choices I guess (NYU for the city, UGA for the great number of attractive women). I know there's a major or concentration at NYU, but I'll have to look more into to see whther it's undergrad or graduate degree seeking. I'll probably head up to NYU on MLK holiday to check out how much it sucks compared to Columbia. But who really needs a campus when you got the Olse, I mean city?

That's the reason I'm considering it. I'm thinking right now my top three choices would be like this:

    1. Houston-I really miss Texas, and this is the closest I could get to attending a big city University and still being near my family and friends.
2.NYU- If I can get it. I have always wanted to visit that city, and to go to college there would just be sweet.
    3. Buffalo-See Houston; it'd be closest to my family in New York and new friends up here.
