MDA has said before his coaching of this team is to build their confidence. all season he's been doing that. he said he doesn't let guys go too hard at harden or paul in practice because he wants them to believe they can beat anyone all the time.

after we lose he says we dont have to change anything, just play like we play... even though he made some changes for game 2. he still had to tell them what they needed to hear.

before game 4 he tells them pressure is on GSW. it doesn't matter if its true or not. there is a theme of building confidence that he's been working on all year. guess what, we had to play with confidence to win game 4. you don't come back down 12 with 10 minutes to go unless you believe you can.

Damn dude. Some people just can’t be happy. The guy was coach of the year last year and may get it again this year. He might be leading us to a playoff series victory against arguably the best team of all time.

No disrespect... but I think you're reaching...
    A) You need to trust what the guy in charge in saying - if u have to start wondering if what he's telling u is true - or if he's spinning something - or if he's placating u - that opens a whole can of uncertainty... Say what u mean and mean what u say...
    B) Wouldnt u agree that his pre-game comments would carry the most weight to start the game - as opposed to later when guys are already playing and reacting with the adrenaline pumping? Well we opened 12-0 - so we didnt start with the right sense of urgency... it was only after guys started realizing that they were on the verge of getting smoked and had to do more that the ship got righted... That EG dunk really ignited things imo - that was a drive of desperation and determination - not a response to 'the pressure is all on them...'

the rockets were down 0-12 but thats not solely on mda. they got some looks that didn't go in. youre also playing one of the best teams in history on their home floor. starting slow doesn't define anything about pre game comments. every team would love to start out blazing but that doesn't happen. they got a timeout in and stayed the course. there wasn't any panic. thats what a good coach with their players do. you're trying to make it seem like theres a perfect storm. thats not realistic at all

A couple seconds left - and I totally agree... if they could pull down the rebound, call timeout, and advance the ball with the clock stopped - I totally agree that u try to make the shot...
but we're talking .5 seconds... the only thing that could screw us is a foul or violation... vs giving them a legit chance to send it to OT - and then who knows what happens...

Im gonna bring up my point again because I want to hear your response to it. It can be slightly difficult for some good shooters to miss on purpose while also hitting the rim (ive seen players miss completely or the ball accidentally rolling in)

If cp3 doesnt hit rim then its warriors ball down 2 and warriors advance the ball to halfcourt only needing a 2 to tie. That opens up the floor tremendously and a lob/tip is far more common than hitting a 3 in that amount of time (gordon scored a 2 with like .4 seconds left to end the 1st quarter)

Keep in mind curry didnt even get his shot off in time and its extremely rare/tough for a 3 point shooter to get off a good look and make it in that amount of time.

MDA even complained earlier in the reg season that guys were too relaxed to start games and that they didnt have the focus and sense of urgency from the outset bc they felt they could 'flip the switch and kick it in at anytime' (paraphrased)...
I think we are capable of beating ANY team out there - if we are focused, playing smart and have a sense of urgency. I just dont think saying the pressure is on the other team (implying its not on you) works to advance that mindset...

All that said, GO ROCKETS! I hope we blow GS outta the water by 50 and none of this minutia will matter! :)

Like Wright said on First things First, Rockets have yet to win a game with hitting 20 something threes. It’s time!

Making the last FT was crucial. Derek Fisher made a shot with .4 left, don't forget that.

Exactly glad u correfted this guy. I don't know why people wanted him to miss that. N possibly lose by a three. Worst cast he goes to o.t. missing on the 2nd is being too cute

I trust CP3 to take a decent shot... straight down the middle and little long so it hits back iron... if it goes in - oh well, same situation we were in anyway - at least we tried to do what would be most advantageous...

Which has a greater likelihood - best % of happening...
    A) CP3 missing the iron all together from the free throw line... and then GSW gets a tip in with .5 left and then goes on to win in OT
    B) CP3 missing the iron all together from the free throw line... and then GSW gets a 3 with .5 left and wins the game.
    C) Chris Paul can manage to hit the rim from the free throw line and the game is over

I'm not saying there aren't possibilities that missing could work against us - I just dont think it is as likely a scenario as others...

Thats my whole point... U dont give them the chance to take a shot - to win or to tie... throw the ball up and hit the rim without fouling is all u have to do...
They cant pull down the rebound and call timeout to advance the ball and get a shot off...

also... realize we're not talking about trying to miss in such a way that u give yourself the opportunity for the rebound... in most instances when guys try to miss on purpose its bc they need more than 1 point... they need to miss, get the rebound and score 2 or 3 points - thats much trickier to do... we just had to hit the rim and not foul - period.

That Roster getting to the WCF had nothing to do with Mchale, we were gonna be garbage and Dantoni came in and revitalized us. Idk what stupid stuff you are talking about, you act like this wasn't the guy who revolutionized the NBA into what it is today.

Yer entitled to your opinion, bro...
Just because someone comes up with a scheme that 'revolutionizes' anything - doesnt necessarily mean they're the best person to implement and execute it... but feel free to regale me with all of MDA's accomplishments in the NBA prior to this year (when he was basically forced to give a second thought to defense...)
I said the guy is a decent coach - prob better than average... and right now he is blessed with probably one of the top 2 or 3 rosters in the league...
I think he is a component to our success - but not nearly to the degree that some do...
MDA is a great offensive coordinator - but I'm not giving him the credit for our stepping it up on defense - since it never happened at any other point in his numerous tenures...

    also another view...
We have 2 wins when holding to 105 points or fewer...
and 2 losses when we give up 119 or more points...
so is it about the 3 point shots... or tenacious D...
