He's not mentally tough enough. He confidence is shaky, and his shot is not good enough to handle it.

See that was the case with Rudy. It was rudy's plan to use him as next years rook. Not in JVGs master plan of turning us into the early 90's Knicks

theres ur answer...cant play in the system defensively and his offense (where his true skills lie) is shaky because of his confidence...or lack, thereof.

When Boki played for injured Pike, the Rockets went 8-3. When Pike came back, the Rockets went 9-11. Since the first 11 games were against lighter opponents, this is just an observation.

If you look at Boki's and Pike's numbers they're about the same.

PPG    RPG    APG    BPG    FG%    FT%    3P%    MPG
    Boki 3.5     1.3     .8     .20     .348     .818     .395     12.3
    Pike 5.8     1.6     .6     .47     .376     .929     .361     18.8

But Boki still has room to grow whereas Pike isn't going to do much more than he does now. I say give the minutes to Boki and let him get some confidence so he can become a solid contributor to the team.

The frustrating part is Boki didn't get even much garbish time. If he does play, he won't develop. For the future of Rocket, I hope JVG gives him more chances.

I think JVG just has a very tight 8 man rotation and it's very hard to get into it. I also think JVG puts a lot of faith in veterans that have been there done that before and Boki is still basically just a rookie.

Did you guys see how that Philadelphia player Kyle Korver shoots?

    Wow!

    Does Nachbar shoot like this?

Maybe Wilks should be playing when Nachbar has playing time to see if he can play. Problem is Nachbar hasn't been playing since Piatkowski returned.

I've always said that if Boki were good enough, he'd get the PT. Last year, this year -- it doesn't matter. There's no way a coach keeps someone on the bench so much if he thinks that player could help the team.

Then explain why Wilks, who everyone believes is better than Mooch, rarely got off the bench when mooch was here.

Sometimes coaches make decisions based on other reasons than talent. Especially when the difference in talent is negligible. Certainly Jackson and Piatkowski are not so much better than Nachbar that he should never get off the bench.

the thing that makes me mad about todays NBA is that there are too many projects. its too much about investing in players that are not ready. for every labron theres gonna be like 4 bench warmers that show promise but contribute nothing now. it makes the NBA as a product much more frustrating to watch. if we were in the kings situation we could afford to wait for our turkoglu to develop but we really need the guys shooting now.

the article was fun to read though. suspension of disbelief was a nice change of pace to "rah rah rah bokis a leper rar rar"

Yeah, Boki needs some confidence & mental toughness, just like you guys above said.

Problem is, the whole damned team could use a healthy dose of the same. Why do you think we collapse in the 4th with a 15 point lead? Why do we suddenly go cold for long stretches in the game? Mental toughness.

We can't just put teams away. Which is why Seattle and others can squeak outa here with a win. We let 'em stay in the game and we either pull out a close one or we give it away.

Because Boki is JVG's rookie for next year. He'd better pray that the Rockets won't change coach again or he'll be a rookie in 2005. :D

I'm not talking about talent. I'm talking about ability to contribute. If Boki could consistantly come in and pull his weight on the floor, he'd be getting the PT. As it is, he's pretty good half the time and looks kinda clueless the other half, even back when Pike was injured and Boki was getting quite a bit of time.

What sealed Boki's fate is they traded for a big small forward. He's probably gone next, especially when AG is back.

If you're referring to Witherspoon, he is way too fat and slow to guard any NBA small forward; he's not going to be a threat to his PT.
