Count me in, too. I've been a fan since the days of Rudy and Calvin on the court, and it would take a lot more than a few off years to chase me away. The Astros, on the other hand, are going to lose me if they don't get into the World Series sometime in the next decade or two.

I'm a big critic on the players, but I will be the first to eat crow if we can turn the corner on this thing. If I had truly given up on them, I would have been rooting for someone else back when we had the disastrous 30 win season campaign over 2 years ago.
I think you can be a fan of the team and give up on the team at the same time. With that said, I think the Rockets defense gives us a glimmer of hope that this team can get better. If they're only allowing opponents 84 points/gm, the goal should be to score about 7 points more a game to become a 50 win team. Those other seven points are going to have to come as Yao improves and probably from an acquisition outside the current roster as far as I can tell.
People seem to equate giving up with not being a fan, but that's simply unfair...13 teams won't make the playoffs, so that means fans of 13 teams this year will give up at one point or another. That doesn't mean they stop rooting for them. I'll be the first to admit that I was wrong, but I don't see it happening. It might not happen until the last week of the season, but the Rockets will miss the playoffs and you will have to give up on them...
I'm as diehard as you can get. I love the Rockets as much as one possibly can. Each win or loss makes my day good or bad. I'm still stickin to my 50 win in 03-04 prediction.
I still believe the Rockets are play-off bound. I still beleive the offense will catch up to the defense. I still believe they can cut down on turnovers and stupid fouls I still believe Stevie Francis can be a court leader I still believe Yao will be the man. I still believe JVG has a long term plan to turn this team around.
Same here for me. But I am not upset with what's happening this season because I did not and still do not expect them to make the playoffs. Ten years of dumbass drafts and stupid ass personnel moves have begun to catch up with them. And as long as CD is the GM, you can expect 2 more years of this.
i don't know what you mean by "give up." i'm a rockets fan, almost by birthright..so i'll always root. but damn..that doesn't mean i can't be critical...and right now there's a lot to criticize.
The Sonics give me hope...they had crappy uniforms, then brought back their great green and yellows, and they hired an ex-Sonic legend, Nate McMillan to coach them. Maybe the Rockets will see the light, give the middle finger to China, and just bring back the red and gold, then hire Rudy back or Mario Elie, someone like that.
You have gone over the board, unless you have drunk too much in the New Year eve. Why do you give a middle finger to China? There is absolutely no connection with China for Rocket's poor performance. In fact, we won tonight!
