You’re essentially punting next season if u sign Boogie. We don’t know when he will actually return to the court, and when he does it will be a struggle. CP3 isn’t getting any younger. Capela is worth a lot to this team. I’d rather keep him and try to add another playmaker at the SF or PF position. Those are where we really need upgrades IMO. Imagine having Paul George instead of Ariza.
No. I'm not punting. I was asked to name someone. I did it. I'm not for signing Boogie if he can't physically demonstrate he's coming back strong. That would be stupid. But he is a guy, that when healthy could occupy Draymond on the perimeter big time.
We won’t know if he’s demonstrated that he can come back from that type of injury this summer, so he’s not a feasible option for next season. So u would rather try to replace Capela than make a meaningful upgrade at SF or PF? Capela is fine.
I said it many times. Beating the Warriors 2-1 during the regular season was a fluke. Rockets never face the Hampton's 5 much.
The Gordon drive on Curry with three Worriers salivating on the weakside was an indictment on the lack of Rockets off ball movement. It made it easier to defend Rockets ball. It was simply 1 on 4 for little effort. Admittedly I supported iso balling Curry in the belief that it would be sufficient to bend Worriers defense and make the game winnable. Second half comes and Worriers made plenty of shots, played intelligent D and the Good Guys could not muster enough points or energy. Adjustments are a must.
Plus picks. Plus youngsters. Possibly. may require stretching Ryan and cp3 and Trevor tagging one year paycut so LeBron can walk here. Dunno. I think this scenario I'm describing may be the best bet if Gilbert stays his stupid self. And honestly if LeBron wants to be gone in trade I'm not sure Gilbert can find a deal that makes sense for him. If I were Gilbert I'd really consider letting him walk and then unloading to the highest bidder (cap space/picks) to get under the tax and then let the season play out from there with playoff teams bringing deals at next years deadline for Hill, Korver, etc. And I suspect this is where it ends up with Lebron. I suspect Gilbert will move Love as quickly as possible....maybe even on draft night....or at least agreed to trade on draft night..to be executed after the moratorium. And then Gilbert can let LeBron walk. In my opinion, that's a better and simpler scenario fit the Cavs to unwind out of the luxury tax than you hassle with two low first round picks and another bad contract. Ask I can see a scenario where LeBron walks here, we waive and stretch Anderson (and then use set off for whoever signs him), get Paul and Ariza to play cheap one season, then clear out Gordon with either no picks or one pick. Sign LeBron outright. Then use Capela in a sign and trade with another pick for another guy.....Demarcus, George, etc.
You'd have to hope your trade partner must be easily content.....and not highly ambitious. If I were the Pelicans I'd keep Cousins and only trade him for high picks or another star in the making who can also create for himself (and that Capela cannot). Devin Booker/Jaylen Brown (if he is available), Hayward (a vet but useful if healthy).......
Ok. Fair enough...... We would have 3 Ballstoppers (Lebron being the most skilled though) 1 Semi Crazy Person 1 Allstar who wants to leave for LA the minute this blows up. That is some slow Offense. I swear 3 of them dudes will be whining for touches. What are we going to pay them? They are not the fastest. Lebron and Chris are the only real friends here. This is not a video game, the GSW are somewhat constructed rationally. Teams like Boston and GSW are still going to bulldoze this squad with elite chemistry or youth or both. We have seen that elite talent can implode without good chemistry (OKC best example).
This Cousins **** needs to stop, PERIOD. He got a major injury and its unclear now how productive he will be. He has attitude issues. He havent been a winning player. IF and that's big IF we get Lebron, we would have enough egos as it is to go around. It would be unclear how he and Harden and even Cp3 would mesh, because there would be only one ball to go around and neither of these guys are regarded as off ball guru. So to bring another guy who will want touches and even handling the ball is crazy. I would rather have Capela who is healthier and has no ego. There's a reason Warriors are this good. Their highest ego is Draymond and he is primary facilitator, not scorer. You need to have balance (like all things should do said Thanos once).
We just need to play the offense we've been running all year... We've always included isos - but last game we ran the most iso plays any team has run in the last 5 years (iirc from a recent article)... we did the nerd move and took something good and extrapolated it - without considering consequences... everything isnt a math problem.... smh.... it was like McHale was running the show... And when the iso drove - nobody followed... Iso's have their place - but not from the opening possession... Their guys had time to rest - as only 1 or 2 guys had to be involved on the defensive end... and most of our guys never found a rhythm due to lack of involvement...
Yeah, you're right. Signing Capela to a big long term deal makes so much more sense now...........not.
You have never built a team, haven't you? Me neither, but even I do know that. Fit is a factor, believe it or not. Advanced metrics should weigh in. This team is elite but to challenge the Warriors, it needs young, athletic players with intelligence, speed and stamina, like Jayson Tatum, like Terry Rozier. Durant worked because he would defer to any alpha, and he could be alpha at times too. The Lakers and OKC this year show that random builds of superstar teams more often than not do not work.
