I think Tim Hardaway could be worth a shot. His best days are way behind him, but even at his worst, he was better than Moochie, plus he's a vet with playoff experience. Aside from his injury history(how are his knees anyway?) and that he'd need the vet minimum, I think he should be worth consideration.
I would try give Wilks some mins before we sign any one, I really like that kids, hope JVG can give him a chance.
I smell another deal. I like Wilks but I just cannot see JVG giving 13+ minutes per game to a very inexperienced kid especially when the team struggles so mightly with turnovers. I hope this Moochie deal is a prelude to a second deal.
how much time do we have to trade weatherspoons contract before hes untradeable for i think its 60 days or 3 months or something along those lines...?
VERY possible.... but I also think that letting Moochie go was not considered a loss by JVG. We don't necessarily have to look for a big move to replace his production. Moochie was averaging: 13.3 minutes 2.7 points 1.6 assists 1.0 turnovers There have to be 50 unsigned players in the CBA, etc that could easily contribute those stats. If you don't like stats.... Moochie wasn't exactly hitting the floor for loose balls either.
Back Up Point = Earl Watson Earl Watson. Check out the stats on this kid from the Grizz. He's in the top 5 in assists per 48 mintues. Jerry West rescued him off the seattle bench last year. Maybe we can swoop down on him before he gets too good. He's young, and it would be nice having a pass first point on the team for those offensive lulls that seem to last an entire half this year ... Hell, lets start him.
word out of utah last year was that mark jackson was a cancer in the locker room, and tried to divide the team for his own gain. a grumpy old man who's never won anything is the last thing the rockets need right now.
earl watson can be had "Coach Hubie Brown changed his 10-man rotation in favor of a firm nine that features a three-guard alignment. He used Mike Miller as the backup point guard so that Miller, Jason Williams and Bonzi Wells could log more than 30 minutes. The decision left (Earl) Watson feeling ostracized and not a part of the team's future. "I've gone from being talented enough to start to not being talented enough to back up Jason (Williams)," Watson said. "I just have to keep working until I do get put in a different situation, whether it's here or somewhere else. But looking at it, I don't know how long I'll be here." "Although Watson acknowledged he struggled in four games until that point, he admitted being "bothered" by Brown's recent quote regarding the re-insertion of Williams into the starting lineup. Brown called Williams "a better, talented player" - something Watson said questioned his ability. "It opened my eyes and motivated me," Watson said of the quote. "I know Jerry respects what I bring to the table. I just hope they give me a chance to grow in this league." http://www.gomemphis.com/mca/grizzlies/article/0,1426,MCA_475_2539759,00.html
I have a very hard time believing that jackson was a cancer, considering all his past and background. I believe Jackson should be the first priority as backup. If not, then we need someone who can shoot and is a veteran who can run an offense. Someone like Matt Maloney, Rusty LaRue, Tim Hardaway, etc.
