We need to change the offense to a pick-and-pop pick-and-roll option offense where you have a skilled big that can shoot the three or roll to the rim depending on what the defense gives. Same player must be able to play great rim defense. None of this can happen now. We're stuck with these guys for a few more games. And then we need to make another change to our team to get us here.
We gotta commit to 100% defense it seems next game and move the ball ALOT. D’Antoni and Morey have been preparing all year for gsw. I know they got different schemes. This is a 12 round boxing match! Love it!
Reduce EG's minutes, increase Anderson's, and have Anderson and PJ take a lot more of the 3's. We lost because we didn't take enough 3's from our biggest threats, other than James and CP3. No reason whatsoever PJ only took 3 shots. James and Chris can't do it all, and the others aren't good enough at any level of consistency.
Nope. It's about whoever can play that rule and has the skills. Thin needs further development. But this is the issue we've had all season. We knew we were going to face these guys. And we knew we were going to have to deal with Durant/Green in their small-ball lineup. And now we're upset because we ain't running pick-and-roll and can't stop them? LOL Gimmeabreak
The reason Ryno has been ineffective, and thus riding the bench, is because opposing defenses have been giving him zero space in the playoffs and daring him to put the ball on the floor. Ryno had just enough room to get up his shot against less intense regular season defenses. Same thing goes for PJ, but PJ has had more success up until this point because he's always just hanging out in the corner and teams have to pick their poison when it comes to playing up on our shooters. The Warriors are willing to allow some Capela lobs and Harden drives if it mitigates our 3 point attempts, because they know that making 3's is the only way we can compete with them. The reason this tactic hasn't worked on us in the past is because only the Warriors can afford to allow us these 2's. They know they can trot down the floor the ensuing possession and counter with a high percentage 3. Sounds familiar right?
You can’t change the offense when your players are built to play a certain way. The Warriors can play a motion offense because their Hampton’s five are all good-great passers. That’s not something they learned in GS, that’s just pure talent.
Yeah change the offense almost 100 games into the season not gonna work We just have to live and die with what we have
From what I can gather this morning...Clutchfans wants guys like Eric Gordon and Trevor Ariza initiating a motion offense against the best defense in the league. Amazing.
Let's see how they speed up the attacking pace. They still create the most possessions...... 5-6 more than the Warriors on average but less efficient.
Still ISO, just don't run every play that way. We NEED Ryno to jack up shots like Klay. That's how we beat them before.
Ryno only gets those shots because of our ISO's Also...ideally, yes, Ryno would hit like Klay. But his confidence is shot. It ain't happening.
Luc makes those 3 layups + the one PJ missed, make 2-3 more free throws in line with our season average, that's about 10 points and a much tighter game. Then a little luck (say a called backcourt violation) and improve the transition defense and we're right there at the end. That's all we can ask for. This series is far from over. With Luc hurt we desperately need Ryan Anderson to provide something to give us a real shot.
Well, to be fair, the obsession is with the Warriors. IF this offense can't come close to toppling the healthy Warriors, then who cares if they've been playing this way all season? The Raptors play great all season every year and suck in the playoffs... things got to change for them. In my view, it's less about the ISO offense making them tired, and just more about wholistically offense and defense are tied together much more than the casual NBA fan recognizes. Bad offense for one team leads to good offense for another team... be it the Warriors or the Suns. That said, I don't think the offense was horrible last night. The role players just missed a ton of open looks. Relative to defense, the team plays defensively off the energy of Capela and Tucker. IF offensively Capela is rendered somewhat useless, you can see it impact him defensively and on the boards. He had 1 offensive rebound. 1. And 6 total boards. He did similarly in the close out against the Jazz, but of course the Jazz had basically no talent at that point so couldn't score if they tried. Again, the wholistic comment. Capela HAS to be engaged. Tucker has to be engaged. He was generally just outmatched in the game, and will be all series. But he was just NOT GOOD offensively. Blocked three pointers. Missed layups. Scared to shoot. Wholistically it impacts his mindset defensively... IMO. That's not to say let's just improve our defense by improving our offense.4 It's just to say they do go hand in hand in a lot of ways.
But to change substantially, you need at least an offseason of work to do it. Changing on the fly, it's just minor. Shore up D, make shots. Half the D, Double the Offense. Spoiler
