There's a new article up at The Ringer about players who have upped their value in the playoffs.

Guess which Rocket is among those? (Hint: It's not Ryan Anderson.)

Yep, that's right. Here's what they say about Clint:

"Capela is a restricted free agent this offseason, not an unrestricted one like the four other starters here {Kevon Looney, Jerami Grant, Shane Larkin, Rajon Rondo}, but he may have taken the biggest leap of anyone on this list. He’s arguably entered the conversation about the league’s most dynamic young big men by outplaying Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert in consecutive playoff series. He’s been great all season, but his postseason numbers — 14.4 points, 12.2 rebounds, and a playoffs-high 2.8 blocks in over four more minutes per game than he averaged in the regular season — have verified that he’s a star in the making. Capela might even be worth a max offer sheet if he can put together a big series against the Warriors’ versatile bigs.

"The Swiss big man is a perfect rim-running center for the Rockets’ system, which means they’re not likely to let him go unless they need to free up cap space for someone like LeBron James. Daryl Morey and Rockets ownership might have to pay up in order to retain Capela, who has given the Rockets their own Big Three this season."

Lol. "He wasn't always this good." You know who else you could say that about? EVERY OTHER PLAYER IN NBA HISTORY.

Anyway, despite his obvious shortcomings (limited offensive range being the biggest), Clint is now considered one of the league's top young centers. You hear the phrase "modern-day center" nearly every game now. And he's definitely going to get a new contract with at least $80M-$100M in guaranteed money. His teammates respect him and the Houston fans are crazy about him.

    But despite all that...

    He'll never know Holic's love. :(

It is more about how far he has come and like Motiejunas his stock fell. But he outshone Motiejunas and has shown that bigs can develop faster.

I wouldn't mind Kevin Looney as a backup to Capela on our Rockets.

I’d rather Brandon wright if he’s fully recovered. He’s better and would be cheaper

Yeah, but Wright is hurt much too often. I don't think he can be a productive player anymore. I hope he can provide me wrong.

Check out Capela's shot chart for this season. As good as he is now, if this guy ever develops a decent 12-18 footer, he'll be a major headache for opposing defenses.

I am glad I am not the only person that is thinking this. I think I he will. We got to match.

like I have said for many months, Cappella is our MVP

he is the glue that keeps everything together

without him, our defense would be horrible. he really clogs up the paint so that when opposing SGs beat Harden, Capella can clean up his mess

Harden should give Capella 10% of his salary for cleaning up his mess night in and night out

give the man his money. he deserves it. whatever it takes including the MAX

if we lose this series badly, it would be a huge mistake to pay Capela big money

Not just media, but also his agents job to get these reports out. I believe he shares the same agent as LUC and some other international players. Not too many big names, So I can imagine they want Clint to get the biggest payout possible.

That’s the scary part. Clint can actually knock down some mid range jumpers. He practices them as much as he does his free throws. You can probably even find some footage of it. But, if and when he will be able to incorporate that into actual games is the real Question. Probably won’t be with the Rockets if he does...lol

Do not want anything to change about his game. Do not want him asking for post ups or midrange shots. Let him play OFF of the guard play where the TEAM can find success. He is a super role player that FITS well in our system. Let’s not change him at all. Maybe better free throws but that is about it.

Wish he and Anderson could just trade contracts => both would be paid appropriately.

He isn't asking for that, but if Capela develops a reliable jump shot, imagine how much it will open up the PNR offense for Harden and CP3. Multiple times, I notice guys would drop off of Clint at the top of the key during a high pnr If defenders start to repect Clint Mid-range shot, then open flood gates open up for James Harden to go to the lane.
