What Israel bombed in 81 wasn't a nuclear weapon facility, but a light-water nuclear reactor. A reactor that French engineer explicitly designed to prevent using it for making bombs. After the bombing, the damaged reactor was inspected and inspector said it was not suitable for making a bomb. The reactor was also under safeguards by IAEA, with many French engineers working there and there was no proof that it was used to make a bomb. What I referred to earlier was IAEA finding document in the 90s that was clear indication that Iraqi was working on nuclear weapon. And as a result, many UN resolutions later, that and many other illegal weapons were destroyed. https://www.iaea.org/sites/default/files/publications/magazines/bulletin/bull34-1/34102451624.pdf
Agreed. But the deal is/was a dog and pony trick. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iran_nuclear_deal_framework Read the portion titled: Other Listed Parameters and Reactions by The United States and Iran. “Officials on both sides acknowledge that they have different narratives on this draft. The US government has published a fact sheet summarizing the main points of the deal. Shortly after it was published, top Iranian officials, including the Iranian Supreme leader and the Iranian Minister of Defense have disputed the document on the key points which remain unresolved.” Then I love the part, later in the same section: In a speech the following Saturday, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei added, “Our policy will not change with regards to the arrogant US government.” Obama an the others were just making deals with themselves (minus Iran) ...inspections were just for show. All cosmetics. You can fool some of the people sometimes, but you can’t fool all the people all the time. The European Union and other nations are just thinking about doing business in Iran. They are not thinking of the safety of the world. Iran can piss down my back and call it rain......it’s still just piss. Others can make believe its rain.
The point of the deal was to set up a tripwire on the Iranian nuclear program, so we'd have advance notice if they started production, not make Iran our BFF's. Pretty universally, I see people claiming the deal was a failure because it didn't accomplish things it was never intended to do. Controlling missiles, Hezbollah, or Syria and relations with Israel, or the US or any of that junk are fine as goals, but were never, ever part of the deal. Absent the deal, they can start production on a nuke and have one before we have the tangible proof required to generate a somewhat unified global response.
Even with the deal they can continue to enrich uranium at their military sites in order to produced a nuke....and be aided in doing so by having other countries pour cash into their country. The deal effectively just makes Iran money and nothing else.
You’d have to trust Iraq (Saddam) on that one. Just like you’d have to trust Iran and North Korea on their nuke programs being for non-weapons purposes. That is the world Israel lives in - invaded and hated by their neighbors since 1948, they have almost no choice but to be proactive.
No you don’t have to, don’t need to, and shouldn’t. American and French inspectors, amongst others are the one that said the reactor that Israel bombed in 81 wasn’t feasible for creating nuclear bomb. No one trust NK and Iran (strawman from you) and thus, as I repeatedly said, you need to watch them. Inspection to validate their nuke weapon status. But if you want to bomb them without proof or worse go to war, then you don’t want IAEA or another independent body to watch them.
Well, Trump obviously isn't too worried about it. He's trying to help the Chinese company ZTE that violated the sanctions against Iran. Now, being tough on Iran isn't really a priority, at least not as big of a priority for the President of the United States as saving jobs in China. https://www.politico.com/story/2018/05/13/trump-zte-china-sanctions-korea-iran-584244
I can name many companies making a killing doing business in Iran. From Germany to France to Russia. Only way to get North Korea to settle down was to isolate them from China. The only way to get Iran to settle down and comply will be to isolate them from Russia (&China). How else would you suggest you do that without giving them rewards? Brut force? Iran was given their money frozen in banks, and they used it to enhance their military, sponser terrorism in the area, team up with Hammas/Palestinians to create unrest in the region, set up shop in Lebanon and Syria......nothing much to their struggling people. And their people see it. The money Obama gave them plus the businesses investing in Iran are going for havoc and chaos. Thus the protests by the Iranian people lately. Fact of the matter is Russia is acting as vultures sweeping into Iraq, Cremia, Syria and Iran if conflict occurs. Anywhere else they can force their way in. I'm not sure Russia would get involved....if promised oil wells.
Sorry FranchiseBlade I replied from work. It had to be quick. Here are some countries/companies invested in Iran (Info dated in 2017) http://www.aalep.eu/eu-companies-investing-iran Because these nations have a lot to lose. I don’t trust the inspectors. They would seem easy to buy off. Just my opinion. Since it’s the faith of the world.....I take it serious. China has a nuclear weapon and have not used them irrationally, nor has Russia. It’s North Korea and Iran that claim they would use them as soon as they acquire them. So missles flying over Japan worries everyone. Even enough to look a blind eye away from the international dishonesty that China does.....if they help us control Kim. Since North Korea’s people are starving (even more than usual) and China was given rewards greater than the sum of being North Korea’s friend. Kim has come to terms with acting right. Soldiers that defect are riddled with worms and parasites. And they are the ones feed well in that nation. Can you imagine the rest of the people. The NorKo people are at the point of risking death in a revolt against Kim. Plus I read an article that North Korea blew up an underground site beneath a mountain. According to scientist judging from satellite footage.... it appears the mountain has shrunk in size about ten feet all around the entire mountain. They estimate the blast was approximately 10 times that of the nuke delivered to Hiroshima. Kim may be saying the hell with this nuke stuff. It’s no toy. Please allow us to live like South Korea. To that we don’t mind. It would be a great thing. We shall see what happens at the summit. Releasing prisoners and dismantling launch sites is a good thing. Going back to China....I was watching a program last night on tv. *Dr Shane Todd mysteriously hung himself in Singapore. It appears to be foul play, but the government of Singapore seem to be covering up things. Case of possible stealing of technology or tech secrets. Suspicious death happened in 2012.....before Trump took office..this has been occurring for years. Trump called out China during the campaign for such tactics and financial manipulation. Similar to the USA printing its own currency but not reporting it. Like minting a 21 trillion dollar coin but not reporting it......thus not depreciating the value of the dollar. Trump claims China has been playing with the figures/books. Russia and China will have to be dealt with sooner or later......first on the priority list is North Korea and Iran. China is learning to become part communist and part capitalist. So they are moving our way. Russia went to the fair tax system. At first they were doing good.....now they need to move into other nations and take their resources. Cremia, Syria, Iraq.......there will be others. Because the Russian economy is on the fringe of collapse from many articles I’ve read. Supposedly they don’t want to get into a conflict with the USA. At the same time Putin is challenging Trump by Russian forces jamming surveillance planes technology in Syria and other places. Two Russian bombers were turned away recently headed towards Alaska. Putin is seeing if Trump is all talk and bluster like Obama and his don’t cross this red line bit. That was seen as weakness by Putin. KGB ex’s don’t respect weakness. *Dr Shane Todd was working on GaN technology https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gallium_nitride
Thanks for the reply, but I'm not sure how it is relevant to the Chinese company. Certain investments have been allowed under the sanctions. If a company did invest but didn't violate the sanctions then there is little to be done. If a company did invest and violated the sanctions and got away with it, does that mean every other company should also be allowed to get away with it? As far as Putin, I think he saw that the sanctions put in place by Obama which are helping to cripple their economy were anything but weakness. Trump going back and lessening and not enforcing sanctions at all already have been seen as weakness by Putin.
No. I was referring to the do not cross this red line by Obama.....and then they crossed it and nothing happened, was seen as weakness. I guess it comes down to if some people think inspectors are doing a real job....or just pretending. I don't see any reason to make inspectors wait 21 days to inspect a site. Unless we are in some hidden ball and shelll game. If North Korea allows inspectors at any site with only a 2 day wait. That would be something o see as legit. Take care. Nice having a civil discussion. I'm not much for Berkley college kids just wanting to shout over opposing views. You have been nothing but fair.
Likewise. I always appreciate civil discourse especially when it is with someone who holds views that are different than my own.
I just heard of this. It’s on several internet sites apparently. Interesting if true. I didn’t feel I needed to hear this to believe the deal didn’t pass the smell test. http://www.investmentwatchblog.com/...state-of-panic-bribes-taken-on-the-iran-deal/ Let’s see how this turns out.
it's not true i do love this statement - "President Trump must be on the trail of this deception. I am sure he knew of this when he decide to withdraw form the flawed Deal. What a piece of crap
Of course, if that was true, I'd hope everyone involved faced the consequences. However, this is hardly conclusive.
Yeah, we will see once the onion layers get pulled back. Possibly Iran setting people up in accusations only. On that Trump note: Trump didn’t nix the deal, the first go around. Possibly buying time to analyze the deal further more. Note the money continues to be paid out. Trump would be notified, as President, as to why money continues to be paid out. Supposedly the money was delivered the same time the hostages were released. Up front money we as a nation couldn’t get back. This stuff insinuates the USA continues to pay out money. I questioned why Macron, Merkel and then Kerry were so adamant about staying in the deal. It’s not that great on face value.......unless you have money to be made on the deal. I couldn’t understand how, if the USA gave up all the money up front. I’m a conservative independent.....I criticize both Reps and Dems. I’m not a fan of Jeff Flake, Corker, McCain, Mitch M,. I find it hard to believe Flake didn’t turn. So I will wait for further information before casting judgement. I take all Internet info with a grain of salt.
