I get you. I'm just saying that I don't trust this league and their hype of narratives, dynasties and darling teams/players.
just win in blowout fashion and the league will welcome it...league intervenes only if teams are close...
I really hope not. Those refs can be brutal. Obviously something was up when they kicked CP3's brother out too last series.
Nah we gonna come out and bust them in the mouth. Harden is due for a big game along with Capela. I’m not expecting a lost at all.
I think you just tell them that they've proved what they are and that the Warriors are coming to test them. They've already proved they can beat the Warriors at home or on the road. Right now it's time to prove that what they did all season wasn't a fluke. Tell them they should have all the confidence in the world right now because they've earned it, but so have these guys on the other side. Dig for that little extra because that little extra is going to add up to something huge. Go take what you've earned. It's yours if you take it, but you've gotta take it. No one is giving you ****.
I get what you’re saying, but... There should be no skipping of anything. The mindset should be okay this is what we wanted. Let’s go out there and punch these guys in the face early, often and repeatedly. Wanting to bury the Warriors and having the opportunity to play for a championship should be enough motivation. How bad do they want it? Turn off all of the outside noise and just ball like they know they can.
I suppose one could make the case the Rockets felt they could play 75% of themselves to beat Minnesota and Utah. And then got caught. I hate the thought they might have had that mentality. But, there should be NO WAY they think anything LESS than "Utah game 3" type play is what they should be brining. If the Rockets don't have the "fear" of GSW coming in and humiliating them, then that is an issue.
The mentality is to be prepared...to win every game...not some contingency if we lose one of the first two. It's a mindset from game one. They have to match up with US...WE are the better team...built specifically to deal with these guys. And, we've demonstrated that we can handle them. The Rockets have the ability to beat them in 5 or 6. We already own these guys in their heads and on the court....... Here are some differences on top of what we've already done against them - CP3 is as healthy as he's been all year, and it shows. The unleashing of the midrange by MDA/Chris... Our role players have upped their game. Championship switching D is down to a science. We take care of the ball much better. CC is blossoming under Dream's tutelage and playing with James/ Chris.... turning into an all star. On top of this, he's upped his game in trhe playoffs again. GS's Achilles heel is that soft underbelly inside and CC will destroy them....on both ends. And, of course..last, but not least...The Beard. We have for however long the greatest back court of all time and blossoming star center...deep with guys that are highly proficient/efficient in what they do. I believe I just talked myself into 5 instead of 6. : )
I've seen so many ball handlers lose the ball because someone passes them the ball, and instead of looking at the ball, their eyes are already down court. Which is why players need to stay in the moment and consider only what they doing next. What if we win game one? Or what if we lose? It's premature to think about, we'll deal with it when it happens. Until then we focus on what we have to do for game one, which is WIN. It makes life simpler. You can go crazy thinking about all 7 games at once, but that's not going to help you. Stay in the moment, stay focused.
Going the other way, remember how good we felt after the Rockets blew out the Spurs in game 1 of the second round last year.
I've been saying this for weeks. I am OK with losing a game at home, because I am confident we can steal one from them at home. This is one series where I am not sure that home court advantage matters. Both teams have a lot to play for and will show up every night. I am not a gambling man, but if I was, I wouldn't touch these games. Each one is a coin flip in my mind. Never know what's going to happen.
