Just realized that the vast majority of Capela's blocks (13 out of 17) ended with the ball in Rockets position. This is huge! Capela really learned well from Hakeem the master.

Warriors are in for a big surprise on Monday!

Gets a lot of blocks with left hand. Most shooters are right handed so a shot blocker wants to challenge with left hand.

    Blocking shots fundamentals

I love this kid man. HE IS OUR X FACTOR. We've always had our big 3 I just refused to accept it.

His timing, coordination and speed are really good and not something you can learn...i aslo hope they don't make him gain more weight at this point, unless i'm missing something i think he's fine for the way he plays.

Hakeem is training someone with the skill set that made him a great defensive player

    I thought I counted 18 in there.

14 / 18 he kept the ball in play, with the Rockets gaining possession. That's pretty awesome.

I love Luc and his defense

I think Ariza is vastly underrated

Tucker is probably our most important defender

But, I’m starting to think capela may actually be this teams best ‘perimeter’ defender.

It’s most likely recency bias and the position he plays, but his ability to stay in front of a driver and contest/block without fouling has been amazing.

He’s not jumping at pump fakes, he said not reaching in, he said keeping his arms straight up and his timing has been impeccable.

I know he’s our best rim protector, but seriously his length speed and quickness on the perimeter for a big guy is outstanding and I couldn’t believe be happier for him right now.

I particularly agree with your last statement. Over the first two series countless guards tried to take him to the hole and would get s step only to have their shot changed or blocked at the rim. I don’t have the stats but I’m pretty sure he was really effective stoping guards from scoring on him from the perimeter. I only remember one time seeing him beaten from the perimeter by a guard going to the hole because he recovers so well. The danger is whether a guard like step or Klay can get him from the perimeter and get a shot off, but he’s so long I hold out hope.

Not down with the cliche "weight gain" thing. Clint's uniqueness at the C position is his speed. It makes him valuable in transition, on pick and roll, and defending the perimeter. I think getting a bruiser as a backup is a better plan than having Clint bulk too much.

His rim protection is great. All he has to do on defense, is to hold his position against bigger centers like Adams/Howard/ Draymond better. They will still score over him near the basket, but if he can slow them down, and make them miss some shots like a peak Tyson Chandler, then his defense will be complete.

I was just thinking that as I was watching the highlights! There's a former center who played for the Rockets before Clint who would be more about "flexing his muscle" and blocking the ball out of bounds rather than keeping the ball in play... he shall remain nameless.
