Salt Lake is actually gorgeous. And, probably the only decent place in all of Utah. The further out you go, the worse it gets...

Depends what you like. I was born in SLC but moved to Houston in '91 when I was 3.. At the age of 28 I moved back to Utah(I like to hunt, fish, camp, dirt bike etc... Utah as whole is tough to beat for this, and if Houston had the topography of Utah I'd never have moved back ). But I can tell you've never lived here, from the Idaho/Utah Boarder all the way down south to Moab/St. George there is beautiful country and lots to do.

Jazz fans are pretty passionate but the people as a whole are no more racist than anywhere else... I wonder how my Black Houstononian wife and I survive out here based on some of the comments. People need to get out of moms basement more, lots of ignorance.

Just jumping into this thread to state, like I seem to do about annually, that all Utahn are not Mormon, all Mormons/Utahns are not white, most Utahns are not racist, and not all Utahns/Mormons are Jazz fans.

I'm a native born Houstonian Rockets fan 99'er, and I am also Mormon. :)

And yes, I still hate the Jazz.

(although I did date a girl in college who was a Jazz dancer... I gave her a pass)

I hate Utah fans as much as the next Houston sports fan, and I'm sure there are plenty of other examples people can come up with, but I'm not sure how singing a "Walk like a Nigerian" song fits the definition of racism. "Nigerian" is not a race first and foremost, and it doesn't look like it is suggesting Nigerians are somehow inferior to another race.

I agree, the term "racism" is used so much in modern American society that it's starting to lose its meaning.

I think Utah is gorgeous. It just gets more conservative and weird the further out you go.

But Jazz fans are our natural enemies, like the mongoose and the snake.

Haha, well we're the weird conservatives out here. Each his own, but I'm the same weird conservative here as I was in Houston for 28 years... Houston is always home though.. And we can agree on your last point.

    :)

It’s the “we don’t serve coffee here” conservatism that weirds me out lol. It’s like my lifeblood man - come on!!

Are there places that actually don't serve coffee? I mean, a lot of people don't drink it, but I didn't know there were places that didn't even serve it. I lived in Utah for about 10 years and had no idea that was an issue.

When I visited last they were just relaxing the laws on alcohol in SLC and they only sold coffee at a few places. I can’t speak more to it lol.
