[Basketball Breakdown] Coach Nick on Game 3 adjustments

    On Defense:
    • He shows adjustments to the Utah bigs slipping screens via switching to hug Gobert, and one awesome time where Capela read the play correctly to *not* switch.
    • Coach Nick also give props to Harden on d.
    On Offense
    • Mainly says Game 2 was a bad shooting game, by providing highlight comparisons of the same looks between the two games
    • Mentions increased use of Pistol action for Harden to curl around the top for hand-offs,
    • I thought it would have been cool to include the 2 or 3 times Harden ran an option off this action for the Capela give and go when Utah overplays the top hand-off...but alas, he left those out. I'll include them here, later.

    That video was excellent. And was absolutely "on point" with the "make or miss league" analogy. Similar shots in game 2 didn't go in that they did in game 3. Sometimes that's the way it goes. Which is why having that dragnet defense like the Rockets had in game 3 so important to mitigate potential rough shooting nights.

    Absolutely, but one key difference was attacking Gobert with mid-range shots. This video didn't show the major damage CP3 did in the first half with his mid-range shots, too. That was big.

    Yeah, but the video also didn't show CP3's misses in Game 2. CP3 shot those same shots in Game 2, but missed them

    Here, I made a vid Friday afternoon before Game 3 to show 'holic.

    Note this is just the first 6 minutes. He shot many more of these in the game 2



    What we did differently on offense in Game 3 was make different reads for back cuts, and went to Pistol more for harden....otherwise, same sets ... different results

    This video shows why Anderson sucks so much, he has negative plus minus because he can't switch like Luc and Tucker.

    Imagine if we didn't have both Luc and Tucker in this game, the switching defense wouldn't work because Anderson has two left feet and would get crossed up by every opponent every single possession. Anderson is an LVP due to his defense, thats why it doesn't matter how well he shoots the ball he will still be a net liability for the Rox due to his bad D.

    Post game interview: reporter mentioned the Rockets with 28 mid range shots; Chris Paul mumbled that
    he probably took 20 of the 28; Harden stated, as you should.....they are like layups for CP3. Harden wants
    him to keep taking what the defense gives the Rockets.....and so do I.
