Since there's only 8 teams remaining right now I suppose you could make this case as long as the Warriors continue to start Javale. Ha.
Asik played very well for the Rockets. The 2014 team could have won a championship. Terrance Jones had a good year Parsons also and Asik.
He took over the game at one point the way only a true rim protector can. Its a special kind of defense. It felt like he had 50 blocks. I hope he can stay a rocket for long long time
I thought he had more than 4 blocks..... 1 on favors, 2on Rudy, 1on ingles, and I thought he had atleast 2on Mitchell.......
And the good thing is that he's most likely going to improve his offensive game going forward, i have no doubt about this at this point, to me, when i watch him play, it's pretty clear he's not at his peak yet, there's still some upside left.
Great game by Capela, especially in that first half. He had some Mutombo-like interior D possessions. In total, they shot 7/17 on shots < 6 ft against him. 10 defended paint misses just might be his high for the season. In the regular season, opponents shot 4.5/8 on shots < 6 ft against him, on average. Here are the numbers for centers in the regular season, BTW (min 45 games played, min 5.5 shots defended per game within 6 ft): Code: PLAYER TEAM AGE G FREQ DFGM DFGA DFG% FG% DIFF% Kristaps Porzingis NYK 22 47 38.0% 2.9 5.9 48.7 62.5 -13.7 Joel Embiid PHI 24 62 45.7% 3.3 6.5 50.1 62.3 -12.1 Anthony Davis NOP 25 73 39.5% 3.4 6.5 51.6 62 -10.5 Rudy Gobert UTA 25 55 47.6% 4 7.7 51.9 61.9 -10 Jakob Poeltl TOR 22 80 53.2% 2.9 5.7 51.2 61.1 -9.9 Hassan Whiteside MIA 28 53 54.6% 3.1 5.8 53.7 62.8 -9.2 Jusuf Nurkic POR 23 78 51.5% 3.6 6.6 53.8 62.1 -8.3 Jonas Valanciunas TOR 25 74 48.8% 3.2 5.7 55.2 62 -6.8 Clint Capela HOU 23 74 48.8% 4.5 8 56.6 61.7 -5.1 John Henson MIL 27 73 51.3% 3.5 6.1 57.1 61.8 -4.7 Marc Gasol MEM 33 72 53.0% 3.8 6.6 58 62.5 -4.5 Andre Drummond DET 24 78 50.7% 3.7 6.4 58.5 62.2 -3.7 Myles Turner IND 22 64 55.6% 4.5 7.6 58.3 61.8 -3.6 DeMarcus Cousins NOP 27 48 45.4% 4.5 7.6 58.8 61.6 -2.8 Marcin Gortat WAS 34 81 47.0% 3.5 5.9 59.8 62.4 -2.6 Enes Kanter NYK 25 70 45.2% 3.4 5.6 60.8 62.3 -1.5 Karl-Anthony Towns MIN 22 80 45.2% 4.4 7.1 61.6 62 -0.4 Nikola Vucevic ORL 27 56 47.9% 4.4 7 63.4 61.9 +1.5 Kevin Love CLE 29 58 46.5% 3.6 5.6 64.4 62.6 +1.8 Nikola Jokic DEN 23 73 46.2% 5 7.5 66.8 62.6 +4.2 Another way to look at the data: points saved through interior D on FG < 6ft: Code: PLAYER TEAM AGE G FREQ DFGMade DFGMiss PointsSaved Kristaps Porzingis NYK 22 47 38.00% 2.9 3 1.6 Joel Embiid PHI 24 62 45.70% 3.3 3.2 1.6 Rudy Gobert UTA 25 55 47.60% 4 3.7 1.5 Anthony Davis NOP 25 73 39.50% 3.4 3.1 1.4 Jakob Poeltl TOR 22 80 53.20% 2.9 2.8 1.1 Jusuf Nurkic POR 23 78 51.50% 3.6 3 1.1 Hassan Whiteside MIA 28 53 54.60% 3.1 2.7 1.1 Clint Capela HOU 23 74 48.80% 4.5 3.5 0.8 Jonas Valanciunas TOR 25 74 48.80% 3.2 2.5 0.8 Marc Gasol MEM 33 72 53.00% 3.8 2.8 0.6 John Henson MIL 27 73 51.30% 3.5 2.6 0.6 Myles Turner IND 22 64 55.60% 4.5 3.1 0.5 Andre Drummond DET 24 78 50.70% 3.7 2.7 0.5 DeMarcus Cousins NOP 27 48 45.40% 4.5 3.1 0.4 Marcin Gortat WAS 34 81 47.00% 3.5 2.4 0.3 Enes Kanter NYK 25 70 45.20% 3.4 2.2 0.2 Karl-Anthony Towns MIN 22 80 45.20% 4.4 2.7 0.1 Kevin Love CLE 29 58 46.50% 3.6 2 -0.2 Nikola Vucevic ORL 27 56 47.90% 4.4 2.6 -0.2 Nikola Jokic DEN 23 73 46.20% 5 2.5 -0.6
