I guess most you are to young to remember 1994 playoffs clearly. I don't see Vernon Maxwell on the team for 34 point effort in Phoenix in Game 3 or the balance team effort in Game 4. Someone...other than Harden....needs to step up also.

Maybe if they go down 1-3 to the Jazz... I don't see Utah winning more than 2. The Rockets should win last game but they messed around for the first half and got worn out by the end.

Uh, do you even know where Choke City originated from? In 1994, the Rockets were up 18 at home in the first half in Game 1 vs Phoenix. They proceeded to blow that lead and lose the game 91-87. Fast forward a few days to Game 2. They built a 20-point lead with about 10 1/2 minutes left in the 4th quarter. They proceeded to blow that lead and lose the game in overtime, 124-117.

The next day, the entire city piled on the team. Hell, it didn't even take til then. I remember the Rockets postgame show on the radio with Charlie Pallilo that night and it was ugly. The newspapers ran some pretty brutal articles and headlines, including "Choke City". This wasn't entirely due to the Rockets' consecutive choke jobs though. The infamous Oilers 35-3 gag in Buffalo had occurred just over a year earlier. No professional sports team in an existing league had ever won a title in Houston. First, the Oilers blew a golden opportunity. Now it looked like the Rockets were about to(remember, Seattle had just been eliminated and we had home court the entire way).

This situation in 2018 is entirely different. The Rocket didn't choke in Game 2. They got beaten by an inferior team, but it wasn't a choke. Toronto in Game 1 the other night vs Cleveland. THAT was a choke. Also, there's no "Choke City" stigma in Houston considering our baseball team which plays a few blocks away from the Rockets is the DEFENDING WORLD SERIES CHAMPION!!!

WHY the **** are we even talking about this? its a 7 game series, losing game 3 doesnt mean you are going to lose the series. Everyone just needs to chill, its friday go get a beer and relax.

Still not worried about this series. But, to answer the question, no it wouldn't be time to pull out Choke City if we lost Game 3. The conventional wisdom is that a team in this situation needs to go and win 1 of the 2 games on the road to recover their homecourt advantage. If they lose Game 3, they get another bite at the apple in Game 4. Don't worry though, you don't need to plan and forecast the wrath of the city. That usually develops organically when it's appropriate.

We win convincingly today. Harden and Paul combine for 60.

I'm not sure what OP is doing, but I think I like it. Hopefully this thread gets bumped for a good reason. Thank you for your sacrifice.

    Let's go.

I know exactly how choke city originated. Just because the "choke" is in a different forum, doesn't mean it doesn't apply. Rockets were a HEAVY favorite in the series. Go down 2-1....to an inferior team....well...choke applies...

Rockets have choked in the playoffs...after 1995. Astros got over their choking history. Oilers/Texans.....well, no need to go there.

Having watched the most recent Game of Zones, I have concluded that @Mr.Scarface is the Austin Rivers of the bbs.

Srly? With Toronto around? The raptors might be offended by you revoking their title.
