As if they REDSKINS needed any more volatile negativity circling their franchise.

They should just strip DC and their owner of the entire team. Let the other 31 teams pick off the scraps.

I've learned that not everyone shares your sentiment on this. I still don't quite understand why cheerleading is still a thing.
Is there even a .01% of tickets sold at games solely based on the ability to watch the cheerleaders?

I think they are needed for TV, so when they cut in and out of commercials they can show gratuitously sexualized women for no apparent reason.

    Sex sells.

Cheerleaders are more useful in ancillary events involving the team. They go to various openings and participate in charitable events and promote the team.

No doubt. Who wants to look at attractive women when milkmen and dogs are available?

Hmmm, true, most community outreach events are attended by the mascot, cheerleaders, and end of the bench type players.
Of course this could be replaced by a team sponsoring a charity that performs this type of outreach.

Having a third party source gives their story more credibility. All we know is five cheerleaders who were there said this happened. The cheerleading director denies it. Who do we believe?

There's plenty of people on that photoshoot that they could interview to corroborate what the cheerleaders said happened.

I see no dispute by the director.

She doesn't really deny anything, other that denying girls were "forced" to go out clubbing, yet not denying she asked them to and it happened. Aren't her quotes mainly about she doesn't make them do things with sponsors that they don't want to do, yet also saying the event did occur (both the clubbing and the yacht).

She actually has no quotes about the photo shoot. So there is no denial that sponsors were there. I'm sure they were -- given that the club event happened and the yacht thing, too, which the Director also said she was surprised at all the guys who were there.

Ms. Jojokian said that she, too, was not expecting to see strangers on Mr. Teel’s boat that day. “I didn’t necessarily feel that we were bonding in a way that was helpful for the whole season,” she said.
Having confirmation from photographers, etc, or people who sold those resort packages to the sponsors complete with photoshoot access, adds more to the story for sure, but I don't see denial of it from the Director.

The Redskins confirmed that sponsors were at the photoshoot. They should just not do topless shooting. Sponsors attending those photoshoots seems like a common practice that has been going on for a while, so I'm not sure why a group of them felt blindsided by that unless they were told sponsors wouldn't be at a topless shoot.

The director and two other captains of the squad deny that they were pimped out that night.

The yacht debacle sounds like the cheerleaders were taken advantage of by that sponsor. The director didn't expect them to be on a personal yacht surrounded by strangers.

The Redskins management should be more careful planning these events and give the cheerleaders disclosure as to who will be attending them. They should do a better job of making the cheerleaders feel safe and secure.

Is she saying when women objectify themselves, it's not OK for men to treat them like objects?

They did inspire one of the better recent South Park episodes, so there's that.
