I wouldn't even want to invest huge money in a guy who has been so injury prone when there are more durable players out there who might give you more return on an investment for your team's future.

 

I mean there's really only one line in that story that I thought was new, which was the portion I put in bold. He [allegedly] wants Pop to lighten up and tweak his methods. To me, that's crazy considering how successful Pop has been.

Edit: and if that's the reason Kawhi has been faking an inury, I think it's absolutely insane and selfish. If that really is the case, he's a terrible teammate and anybody would be unlucky to have him.

This really sounds like a classic case of a meddlesome uncle trying to parlay his nephew's success into something for himself.

 

I think his value is diminished because he is missing so many games and probably is not that hungry once he had that championship and Finals MVP locked up.

But if it gets him to a big market and away from the cult Pop is running in San Antonio, then it's a win for Kawhi, assuming he continues to perform. Winning basketball games is important, but I'm not going to hate on a young player choosing money.

If I was the spurs owner then I wouldnt feel comfortable offering kawhi a supermax contract.
